Warranty service experience

My AC quit working on my last trip, and at the recommendation of a friend, he suggested contacting Camping World in Lakewood.
I called their service department twice and was told I would receive a return call within an hour.. 2 Days later still no return call.

I then tried Scott RV in Lakewood, who set up an appointment on the first call. They were ready for me when I arrived, asked questions, listened to what I said and answered my questions professionally.. I'll post my experience when the repairs are completed.. But if they follow thru like I expect, I know where I'll go for service work next time...

I have had fair luck with camping world. Corporate attitude. Now try very hard to use local and NON corporate for what I can.

Camping World is a crap shoot. Some are much better than others. The ones around here aren't anywhere that I would take my camper for repairs. I do 99% of my own work because I don't trust most of these places.

This is pretty new to me.. Most of the businesses I patronize want my business.. My car dealership actively pursues my service work...

In this case it's probably the "luck of the draw" when you get to work with someone who's conscientious vs the one who could care less..

The people I dealt with at Scott RV today seemed interested in doing the best they could and explained what they could do within the limits of what their sub-vendors could provide in the way of parts availability..

I should have a clue within the next week..

Optimism springs eternal

Got a call from Scott RV service dept, 1 day after I left the trailer.. they told me that the Freon had leaked out and they had requested dometic to approve warranty replacement of my entire AC unit, and were waiting for their reply.
That was quicker than I expected!! So far so good..

All the best to all..

Hey, Pat.

Sounds like you found yourself an excellent dealer, you don't find many that give that kind of service. Too bad there's not more of them around.

Hi Jim,
Being my first time "in the barrel" I wasn't sure what to expect..
After hearing a number of horror stories I'd gotten pretty apprehensive..
So far I'm pleasantly surprised.. and just hoping that they follow thru..
I'd like to post a positive conclusion not only for myself, but I think we need to recognize a suppliers efforts to do right by their customers.

All the best.
Pat

It's great to here the good stories, it would be nice to have a list of RV service suppliers that provide good service. When your travelling and thousands of miles from home and need to find a service provider, you throw a dart at the list and hope for the best.

Let us know how the service turns out. Don't want to hijack your post on all the bad ones...

I'll give them a call in a couple of days. I'd asked for it to be done by July 15.
I really would be pleased to post a positive experience. The suspense is killing me!!!

One way or another I will post the experience...

Here we go! Two weeks after dropping off my TT, I call and ask for an update.. I'm told that Keystone had been contacted and needed some new form filled out, that they now required to authorize warranty work.. They would call Keystone as a follow-up this coming Monday..
Its starting to not look so good

All the best

Par,

Don't that just deflate your ballon. When I get that kind of response, I begin to think that's RV speak, for "we're to busy with paying customers, so we'll get to it when we run out of cash jobs."

I hope everthing works out for the best and your back to camping real soon.

Well I got the "good" news today. I called and was told that both Keystone and Dometic have approved warranty replacement of my AC. The Bad news is that Dometic has a 3 week backlog on parts...
Just had to cancel a reservation at Sun Resorts, at Big timber lake in Lancaster who took a $118 deposit (half of the total for 3 days rental) and will charge me $50 for the cancellation and retain the balance of $68 as a credit toward future stays at Timber lake.. We were scheduled to arrive on July 29 and leave sept 1.. I understand the delay on the AC Parts but will do my best to avoid ever going to a Sun Rv resort again...
Wow this is getting complicated!

It does appear that RV + Warranty-work = rollwiththepunches.

But chin up, I say. Don't letem steal your joy. And remember to soak up the camping moments when you're right in the middle of them.

Thanks for the good advice. I couldn't agree more.. I'll just have to come up with better solutions..

All the best
