Trailer Life Letter... Anyone We Know?

Saw the following in the RV Resolutions section of the new issue of Trailer Life. Sounds like a familiar tune to all of us... just wondering if it's anyone we know?

Axle problems sound familiar, tires on the right side. Not ours though, After the dealer attempted to fix the problem, I took it to Bud's Spring Shop in Lancaster and they fixed it right. I feel their pain though...

We don't have to go through Keystone for our warranty work; we can deal directly with whomever made the part. A call to Dexter would have been better than dealing with Keystone. Same goes with our a/c's, refrigerators, etc.

And dealing with the individual manufacturers in many cases is just as fruitful.

I tried that first. Lippert made the axles on ours. The tech I spoke to was surprised by the pictures of the installation that I sent him and expressed concerns. The next day, they denied ever having that conversation with me. I figure they had a conversation with Keystone that changed their approach.

The chassis and axles are shipped separately to the assembly plant then installed by Keystone assemblers, that’s where things went wrong for us. Lippert wouldn’t take responsibility for Keystone’s actions and Keystone denied any wrongdoing. Our attorney believed we could have won, but it would have cost us a pile of cash up front and the unit couldn’t be repaired until the case was settled to preserve the evidence, could take a long time. After six weeks of "personal negotiations" with them, Keystone finally agreed to replace all the springs, which prevented a civil case since they agreed to “fix the problem”. Afterwards I had to take it to a spring shop to get it fixed correctly anyway. During a three way conversation with LCI & Keystone, it was suggested I was putting to many things in the kitchen causing the tires to wear, you can’t make this stuff up, and yes, they wore me out. We're ok now though...

These manufacturers do not realize (or do not care) that we read and heed the problems that they are refusing to repair luckily Trailer Life and Motorhome Mags. get some results. But my point is they should not have to intervene in the first place. A warranty or recall should be upheld as stated in the warranty . I always read the problems others have with the various units and do remember when it is time to trade or purchase a unit. I also remember the manufacturers who uphold their end of the deal.

NO action from any manufacturer file a complaint with everyone, feds, state etc. Sad to say this but it is the way these companies want to be treated. Always document everything.
