Getting packed up and ready to spend the month in Virginia (and by the way, going to make the tunnel also).

Chincoteague/Assategue was one of my most memorable vacations as a kid back in the seventies.

Speaking of............Assateague Island Nation

From Beachbourbon.
"Crown Jewels of beach camping IMHO - Assateague Island National Seashore"

Very nice camping. Did that many moons ago in a tent. Was nice until the mosquitoes hit us one nite. Our 2 dogs got bit all over the face and nose. We had hundreds of bites. It was amazing the amount of mosquitoes!

According to the Park Ranger it is caused by the wind coming from a certain direction having to do with the wild ponies. Would not wish that experience on my second worse enemy.

As to the best beach camping. PADRE ISLAND TEXAS! 50 plus miles of open beach. Drive, camp, fish, swim. Just my Opinion

FYI.

Cherry Hill in college park, MD outside of Washington DC. Nice park, but very expensive. After two weeks of dry camping on the beach, we needed laundry , WiFi, and store facilities so this turned out to be worth the $. It was also convenient to get to DC. You take a bus from the RV park through a sketchy neighborhood and are dropped off at the metro train station at the university of Maryland. From there you ride past a lot of stops until you get to national Archives on the capital mall.

Special thanks to our congressional representative for the private tour of capital hill with one of her aides.

:trink39:

Hopefully the thread will not be hijacked again my armyveteran for-the purpose of trashing other folks camping experiences, just because his opinion differs. It would also be helpful if trashing others camping experience wasn’t attempted based upon a one time occurrence that happened so long ago it was many moons and probably in another century. Finally, it would be nice to see this poster participate by posting pix and information about where he is going/has been in 2019 rather than just a preference about where he would like to go. Especially since that is what the thread is here for - actual camping in 2019.

Moderator hat on: A number of posts have been removed from this thread because they were off topic and rude.

These are the site rules: https://www.dutchmenowners.org/forum...ork&page=rules

They are lengthy but the basics are be nice, be polite, be appropriate and be helpful. if you can't post in alignment with the rules - stand down.

Regarding the image rotation issue... yup, it's annoying but the forum software does not auto rotate images. Pics taken in landscape orientation on mobile devices remain that way unless rotated and edited locally prior to upload. Sometimes it's just too hard to do. we appreciate the pics anyway.

Golf clap so not to wake anyone. Thank you, much appreciated, was about to unsubscribe.

Beach, was considering setting up a trip to DC this year, but timing sucked. Glad to see someone actually posted about it. Used to be one could go to the Uday museum, and then take a shuttle to the Mall from there, but they discontinued that shuttle. Too bad, one of the reasons I didn't look further into a trip to DC this year.
