There are various applications that give you info on routes with low-bridges, and steep terrains... but none of them are on the popular sites like Google Maps and such.
As far as GPS units... there's also a couple of them on the market, but the one I like is from Garmin. The latest version is their RV890 unit, which is the 3rd generation.
It has setup menus that allow you to put in the length & height of your rig... and then it's routing software does a good job of keeping you off of roads & routes that would get you in trouble. Mind you, like anything else, it's not something you should rely 100% on... but in using it for over 6 years now, it's only tried to put in on a bad road once.
Another benefit of them is that you can buy up to 4 of their brand of external cameras, and place them anywhere you want... and then toggle to view them all right on the GPS unit. No other monitor necessary.
