Please recommend a product to clean underside of awning
Sorry for flooding the forum but I'm in the middle of giving everything a once-over on my trailer.
The underside of my awning has what looks like black mildew, no doubt from rolling it up before it was completely dry. It's difficult to get any leverage and I'm not keen on applying a great deal of pressure on the awning.
I was hoping there might be a spray-on product that would dissolve most of this to be able to hose it off. Does such a product exist?

Fortunately, mine isn't that bad, however when it starts to look a bit shappy, I use Simple Green and an extendable handle with a brush. You may try some bathroom mildew remover as well. Good luck.

Thanks for that, I'll try the Simple Green, I've used it before and it's readily available around here.

Simple Green will work to clean it up. To help keep it clean, try using Wet and Forget I have a buddy that has been using it with great results.

What we have always done is open awning and let it dry out next day after it rains or gets wet in travels. Never any mold.

Hi Don,
just found the same mildew/stain problem on our TT.. Found a recipe in a different post using about 1/2 a 5 gallon bucket of water, a squirt of Dawn dishwashing liquid and about 2 oz of bleach.. Spray this on the bottom of the awning and then on the top as you roll it up a bit at a time.. Leave for about 30 minutes.. Unroll the awning and rinse..
Did a little touch up with a brush and it removed 90% of the mold and stains.. Just repeated the process and am waiting to see the result..

Use it for removing Mildew on Awning, Black Streaks, LP tank cover, Wheel opening moldings, and the trim around the hatches! LA's Totally Awesome is the best stuff I have found. Even when diluted 50/50 with water so you actually get 2 gallons for $3.00.

It is awesome, cuts the grime out of the shower and bathtub with very little to no scrubbing!

To clean the underside of my awning, I use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser mop and it works really well! I keep it in the storage bay and use it when ever the awning is out to keep up with any areas before they get away from me. The mop handle lets me reach the underside of the awning. I generally don't even need to use anything other than water. The Magic Erasers also work well to remove any black streaks, etc. Hope this helps.

I use "Wet and Forget" but as a cleaner not a preventative. I mix it 4 parts water to one part Wet and Forget. I roll out about a 2 foot section of the awning and get on a ladder and clean both sides. I use a rag soaked in the solution and don't rinse. I don't scrub with a brush or anything abrasive, just wipe back and forth some. You have to move the ladder a few times. Then I roll out another 2 feet or so and clean that. It's very labor intensive but man does it work. I don't have to worry about damaging the awning or the threads which is a consideration with most cleaners. You need to rinse like crazy to keep the cleaners from damaging the threads.
