Above the flame, on the metal "shelf," below the rack. I went "cheap," and use a ceramic floor tile. Bang! It must have had an air bubble, and it cracked into two clean pieces. Pushed together, they work fine. The idea is to get the heat from the centerline burner dispersed around the oven.
