Kitchen Question...

Ok, here's one for you guys & gals...

Have any of you either been crazy enough, or brave enough, to try hanging a small pot rack in your rig? Because, I am.

Obvious potential problems I can foresee (feel free to add your own):

* Hanging location
* Weight capabilities
* As it's an item suspended on ceiling hooks, the amount of movement in all directions during travel

As to that last item... I figure keeping the suspension length short will limit travel somewhat, and that using rigid hooked iron rods instead of chains may limit it more.

I only want to hang like 3... maybe 4 items on it total to create a bit more cabinet storage.

Am I crazy? I think I am... but then again I know I can't be the only person to have thought of this.

Input welcome...

I bought a couple of hanging pot plant fixtures from home depot that stab into the ground. They work awesome.

So, based on similar engineering, how about a hanging pot rack that actually is attached to some vertical surface that offers substantial anchoring, rather than traditional ceiling mount?

Or, imagine something similar to a coat rack that allows multiple hanging pots from a single vertical post?

It doesn't even have to be permanently fastened. Just lay in on the floor during transport with the pots in a box. Then when arriving at camp it would take all of 30 seconds to stand it up and hang the pans.

Your rig has tons of storage so I would first take a serious look at items in your cabinets and compartments. If they haven't been used in the last 3 or 4 outings, then you probably don't need them.

I have several of those Command stick on wire hooks put up in various locations around the camper. The kitchen has several for various cookware needs and part of our ritual when setting up camp is to take things out of their travel storage and hang them up for use. Then reverse the ritual when tearing down camp. I personally would not want things hanging and swinging during travel, I just have a suspicion that things would go wrong and they'd get chucked around and fall and crash. I also think the swinging motion would cause wear and tear on the cookware and camper.

I'd keep the big pots in the garage.
