Kidde Fire Extinguisher Recall

If this has been mentioned here before, I’m late to the dance
it has just Been brought to my attention, and mine was affected in the recall. Kidde shipped me a new one free of charge.

CHECK YOUR KIDDE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS FOR A RECALL.

It could be a matter of life and death

Charley

Recall's been out for over a year but thanks for the reminder.

Before one goes to the trouble of logging onto the Kidde site check first to see if your extinguisher has a plastic handle. If it does then it might be on the recall list.

First thing I did was toss the POS and get a REAL fire extinguisher. I use 5# Amerex with proper metal fittings. When I was dragging a trailer I also had a 10# mounted in the back of the truck. The Kidde are a joke, even their big ones. They are the bare minimum that the RV manufacturer has to provide.

Yep, they met the requirement. My friend had a sport fishing boat with two CAT engines down below. They met the marine requirement with a pissy extinguisher down below. I took him down a nice beefy ANSUL unit and told him to give the baby thing away.

Half million dollar boat fitted with a kitchen extinguisher but it met the requirements.
