First Trip

Hi Guy's.
Taking the trailer on her maiden voyage this weekend. Picked her up from the dealer who has de-winterized. Not tested everything to see if it works yet but i'm sure we will find out next week. Just wondering if there is anything i should do before we leave like put a couple of gallons of water in Black tank with Deodorizer. We will be at a Full Hook up Site. Any little Tips & Tricks would be welcome. I'm picking the Trailer up from local Storage on Friday & going to plug in outside the house to get the Fridge cool overnight before leaving Saturday morning.Dont really know what else to ask...... Anything welcome.
Thanks Col

Re: First Trip

For our maiden voyage, I took the access panels off to expose the water system. By doing this it was easy to check for leaks as the first few trips will shake the daylights out of all the mechanicals. I also have an infrared thermometer that I picked up at Princess Auto for under $20 and whenever I stopped I would check the tires and hubs in order to get a baseline of how hot everything would get while running, this actually found a tire that was running about 5 degrees F hotter than all the rest and it turned out the tire was faulty. Did you sanitize the water system? I use a couple of cups of bleach to a full water tank and then flush with fresh water and then a couple of cups of vinegar to get rid of the clorine taste if there is any. Just a little bit of info, hope it helps.

Daryl

Re: First Trip

Thanks Daryl. All water system is enclosed. Dont know if any access panels anywhere. I like the sound of the Infrared thermometer, very good idea.. Have not sanitized anything. I thought that might be something they would have done when Dewinterizing.or maybe not.I will follow your instructions & do so.
Keep em coming. I'm printing all this off & handing it to the wife so she can instruct me on what to do

Re: First Trip

Double Check that your hot water tank is not bypassed...our friend thought their new unit had a problem with the hot water tank... They forgot to close the bypass valve

Re: First Trip

Have a great safe trip Colin and Karen, be safe and check your hubs and tires often, remember it didn't happen without the pictures.

Cheers

Re: First Trip

First Trip behind us now. Few teething problems but overall quite happy with how things went.Leak on water heater,Squeeky floor, interfierence on tv,Entertainment system only plays CD'S not DVD'S. Sorted Hitch out myself as it was set up completly wrong by Dealer. ( Twice ). Overall fit & finish of this trailer is very poor. After sales service not to good so far but we will see how that goes. Lots of other little things but wont go into to much detail yet. We really did have a good holiday though. After 9 years anything is nice.

Re: First Trip

Sounds like your issues aren't too major. Dealer should be able to get them sorted for you. Looks like a nice spot though - where were you again?

Re: First Trip

Make your list and get 'em all fixed. We had something like 16 after the shake down trip.

Fix what's broken, mod what you don't like, then enjoy it as much as possible!

Re: First Trip

Thanks Coops. Quite surprised on how well the Hemi did through the mountains, just hurt the pocket a little. About 12 to the gallon. Not to bad on backing up as i have been driving Semi's for the past 25 years so i have a little experience.

JC, We spent 2 days at Canyon Camp site in Radium & 2 days at Daisey Mays in Fort MacLeod.

Should not be to big of a deal getting all the little prob's taken care of.

Re: First Trip

We had originally planned to hit Canyon this year but changed our minds. How was it?

Re: First Trip

First ever trip in TT so didn't know what to expect.Thought it was good untill we went to Daisy Mays, then we realized how good Canyon was. Would definetly go again. Nice clean site, washrooms & showers like new.Fast flowing river through the middle of site. Lots of wildlife around.
