clearance lights leaking

I noticed a puddle on each side of the bed closets, after checking I determined that the clearance lights were the probable cause. I removed one and found that they were just screwed to the metal and no gun tape, flex washer or anything else to seal them, also the entrance hole was really much larger that needed. i removed the front ones first and plugged the large hole with silicone then lined the rear of the lights with gun tape and re-installed, also use silicone to make sure of the seat , in top and both sides of each light, I ran a water hose over the lights and checked, there was no leak, I also checked after the next heavy rain ans everything was still dry, I then checked and sealed all the other clearance lights as not had any sealant on them either. seems like poor or no QA. was done to the Coleman CTS 16 FB.

Seems to be common across the board. I too noticed the wallboard paneling was damp at the top corners. Investigation showed no sealant on the clearance lights. An easy fix really that everyone should do.

Agreed. As time permits, I too have been taking off the lights and resealing them. I consider it part of my making a maintenance foundation. This way I'll have a record of what I have done....besides...it's fun to see how poorly these trailers are put together. Oh boy!
