Anderson WDH hitches

Has anyone on this forum ever used or is using an Anderson WDH ? They are definitely not a convential style hitch system, just looking for an honest opinion if there is anyone out there! Thanks! I did purchase the Anderson leveling block system, tried to use them once and the tire wedges snapped in half! Not a very good start!

I recently bought one. While most people posting say they like them I have read a few posts that says they work well on lighter trailers but not so well with heavier trailers. The positive posts are mostly centered on the idea of its simplicity of setup. I found the sway properties equal to the sway friction bars I used before. As far as the Weight Distribution it only transferred about 65 pounds from the rear axle to the front axle. I talked with Andersen about this and they recommended that after I hook it up and set the tension to raise the hitch a couple of more inches and try to put another two turns on the tension. I'm going on my second trip in a couple of days, which I will weight the setup again at the CAT scale, but so far I feel disappointed in the product. I originally bought it because of the setup and because the DW and I are getting along in age.

Thanks for the reply, since I last posted I have bought one as well, sold on the simplicity and light weight hardware. I have read that the WD isn't as good as well. I have read many comments that it works great if you have a heavyier truck. Im running an 2017 F150, my camper is only a 19 foot Coleman, 6500 max weight. I have hooked it up and ran it down the highway some, it does seem to leave more of the weight in the rear as compaired to my old Reese hitch. I do like the sway control, not perfect, but better than what I had. You really have to be careful when raising the hitch, it will transfer b weight to the trailer , but will make it squirly in the road. I'm going to play around with mine and see if I can get things dialed in. I'll keep you posted! hopefully you can get things sorted out as well, it is a nice hitch in regard to simplicity.

I got it for the same reason, mine is set at front 1 1/2 inches lower, the sway cont is about the same but the bumps are worse thinking of lowering to next hole in the 8 inch drop

I was looking at this hitch for a while trying to decide which way to go. There are a lot of appealing aspects to this hitch. What ultimately made my mind up was the eventual wear on the sleeve that controls the sway. The sleeve can also squirt out of the top which would also reduce the sway control. I ended up going with the Blue Ox. Better? No idea. But I'm pleased.

We have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee V6 towing a 2018 Kodiak Cub 175BH using the Andersen. We took a two week 2400 mile road trip this summer and it worked GREAT reducing sway. No problems at all. The hitch is lighter that the Blue Ox and others we looked at (helps with my overall carrying capacity) and its simplicity makes hitching up a breeze.

I don't need a ton of weight transfer and it is fine for our needs.
