AGS on diesel genset

I know there are probably only one or two members that have diesel gensets but I was wondering if anyone has added automatic start to their diesel generator.
I have an Onan QD 6000 in mine and I see the AGS that Onan made is no longer available. Which one did anybody install?

This spring I removed the 5500 gasser and installed an Onan QD7500. I had the Magnum inverter and AGS already installed. I just had to rewire the harness for the diesel model and it performs flawlessly. Starts by my pressing button or under any of the parameters I set on the AGS (low amp, low voltage, inside coach temperature or for monthly maintenance startup).

I know this is probably not a complete answer to your question, but the AGS works well with the diesels.

Actually you answered the one question I couldn't find on line... if any model AGS would work on a diesel. I wasn't sure because of the long delay before my diesel even cranks after the start button is pushed. The Onan EC-30 states it is specifically is for the QD model diesels, but ain't no way I am paying over $800 for one (if you can even find one available anywhere).

Here is the Magnum AGS-N manual for reference. The book makes it seem more difficult than it is to hook it up. Most difficult thing was to make a harness to connect the diesel to the existing gasser harness in the camper, but I prevailed and extremely happy. I can run a very long time now on 74 gallons of onboard fuel.

I still haven't gotten around to installing an AGS yet but I was reading my Tripp Lite inverter owners manual.
It says that the inverter provides AGS just by running a cat cable from RJ45 jack on back back of inverter and connecting to the generator start switch as shown in a schematic in the manual.
I can't believe it would be that simple, no parts other than a cable?
I have sent 2 emails to Tripp Lite trying to ascertain if
1.it really is that easy.
2.will it work with the diesel's need to fire up the glow plugs occasionally.

Their reply both times was there is a RJ45 plug for that purpose.

So, depending on my honey do list, I am going to find out this weekend.

Interesting. My generator had one large connector on it that I got an adapter for to plug into the campers existing harness. I went with the Magnum AGS simply because it would surely be compatible with the inverter. The AGS I have will run several types of generators, you just wire the pigtail to select screws on it for your application. Let me know your findings. Curious!
