Fly fishing equipment

Due to health I will no longer be able to fly fish. I have way too many items to list or price. The equipment includes two Orvis rods, 4 reels, vests, packs, fly boxes, a ton of flies, and a bunch of other equipment. All of it is quality equipment. I'm not interested in making a lot of money selling it as I do want it to end up in the hands of people who will use it.

I live in Golden, Colorado. If interested in talking post here and I'll sent you a Private Message through the forum.

My apologies to the moderator but as I stated above a complete list of equipment and prices would be overwhelming. Please allow my post to stand.

FD, I hope you can appreciate a humorous story about fly fishing?

My brother in his youth would backpack far into the Gila Wilderness and take only a line and hooks to fish.

He tells a story of some guided fishermen coming in on horseback and fly fishing without much success near his camp. Come dinner time he dug his bait and crawled up behind the bushes on a deep pool and threw in his line wrapped around his finger to jerk several trout out of the stream.

While he was cooking dinner he noticed these fishermen had given up on their fly fishing equipment and were hunkered down behind the bushes on their bellies with line tied around their fingers!!!

In that small mountain stream there wasn't enough room to cast without spooking the fish.

Great story. Before Colorado I lived in AZ for about 45 years. I did a lot of backpacking and have spent a lot of time in the Gila Wilderness area.

I wonder if they had planned for eating fish for dinner without bringing a substitute in case they didn't catch anything. I learned early on not to do that while backpacking.

My brother moved away and hadn't been back in a while. He stopped by my house last year on the way home from a planned week long backpacking trip with his son to the Gila.

He said the wildfires had decimated all of his old campgrounds and they only spent one night in the wilderness.

He would always take those freeze dried meals, so yea... you better catch some fish or eat what to me taste like wet cardboard???
