Rotate power tongue jack

I can't lower my tailgate all the way with the power tongue jack and was wondering if it can be rotated? I have a 2012 Denali. Anyone know if this can be done? Thanks, JC

Re: Rotate power tongue jack

I've read elsewhere that the answer is no, but I'd check with your TT dealer and see what they say.
I've never been able to lower the tailgate either, and it's kind of a pain, isn't it?

Re: Rotate power tongue jack

It can be rotated as long as the motor does not come into contact, or bind on anything.

Depends on the brand of jack. With a Barker you can. Just loosen the 3 set screws and turn the power head without taking it off the shaft, then tighten the screws. I just did this with my mine. Barker does this for just that reason, hitting the tailgate.

Not sure what type is on my Denali. I don't see any branding.

Re: Rotate power tongue jack

Just checked today. Mine is an LCI. Anyone know if they can be rotated?

Re: Rotate power tongue jack

bounced here from the Forest River Forums. (hope u don't mind)

have the same problem with my2004 f-150 super crew tail gate.

called LCI manufacturer and the said no, but others have tapped holes and rotated the jack to gain clearance. others suggested welding the plate that the jack is connected to backwards.

i am pursuing a different approach first, but it may not be ideal.

camco makes shanks in 10" up to 16" shanks. part numbers 48120, 48121, 48122, 48123.

i have the 10" now and will be trying the 12" first. if it cleas, i stop there as it has been suggested to keep the ball as close to the truck as possible. hope this info helps.

Re: Rotate power tongue jack

I honestly never thought of a longer shank - maybe I'll give that a shot! Thanks!!
