Reese 5th Wheel Hitch

I have a 26,500 Reese 5th wheel hitch. My wife noticed that when the handle is pulled, the latch that ultimately goes around and locks on the pin, does not open 100%. When I pull the handle, it opens around 75%, and if I pull and hold it, opens around 90%. Seems like it loads okay but not sure if it's right. Truck and hitch are under warranty so I can take it in, or if anyone knows if and how to adjust the jaw, I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance,
Rusty

The jaw on my 18k Reese does not open all the way either. As long as it closes all the way, I would say you are good to go.

I have the same 26.5k hitch and it is the same as you describe. I wondered about it for awhile. I works just great and I had forgotten about it until you just brought it up. I think you are good to go.

Mine works the same way. I have been using that same hitch (Ford branded) for five years and never had an issue or worried about that 1" inch or so hook still showing. Never an issue disconnecting.
