Leaking roof vent

Hi all, I just had a MaxxAir roof fan system installed. We are traveling, living in our Kodiak 240BHSL in San Diego at the moment. Well, I saw the tech install it and my gut told me he did not seal it very well but he assured me it was "all sealed up". Well here we are in the pouring rain and there is a drip coming down from the vent! To make things worse we are out of here tomorrow AM and moving North so bringing him back is not really and option.
So, my question is can I get up on the roof and run a bead of caulk around the whole thing to seal it or will I need to pull the whole unit? I'm really not equipped to pull it while on the road so I'm hoping the caulk will work!
Thanks for the help.

I always have a roll of 2" butyl tape on hand for this type of situation. Its good in emergencies and works well. It can easily be removed and repair can be made when better conditions exist.

Just run butyl tape around all the edges and press down good. It even works on wet surfaces. I would take an umbrella and try and towel dry area a little for better adhesion. You can get it at most rv places.. camping world so on...
