I REALLY need something that will give me more than the measley 26 gallons I have internally. Can't add anything in the back of the truck, have tool boxes and stuff back there which prevents me from putting anything wide. Have a NISSAN TITAN XD Platinum. They have a 50 gallon version as an aftermarket tank but need someone to install the darned thing.

I looked at replacing the internal tank but they run $1000 and up plus the cost to install and what would I do with the old tank? I decided on the low profile RDS tank in case I want to install a toolbox over the top of it someday. So far so good. I have an appointment on Monday at my favorite auto service shop to have them install it.

The tank I bought also has a tool box on top. Took me about an hour to install it myself.

Will this tie into your current tank or or it going to be a personal fuel pump?

It ties directly into the filler pipe and is fed strictly by gravity. It has a manual shut-off valve to prevent overflows out the main tank open vent. I just finished installing an electric solenoid valve that I can control from one of the upfitter switches inside the truck so I can open the fuel flow when the main tank gets down to half a tank and then shut off the flow once it reaches full. Between the two tanks I can go about 550 miles on one fill-up. Sweet! I can now pass up those sketchy looking gas stations without worrying about running out of fuel.

Doesn't the connection to the filler hose come with a check valve? I put a 90 gallon tank in my truck, the tank had the manual valve and had a check valve in the filler hose connection.
The ball will float up and shut off the gravity flow from the tank when the filler hose gets full.

It does have a ball check valve to prevent fuel backup in the filler hose but my F250 has open vent located at the top of the tank which will allow fuel to flow out. I found that out the hard way. I don't know what keeps the vent from overflowing when adding fuel through the filler pipe (probably related to the rate of flow). Seems you are supposed to somehow attach a hose to the vent and route it up to a level above the top of the aux fuel tank. That would involve either dropping the fuel tank to get at the vent or removing the bed from the truck plus trying to figure a way to adapt a hose to the vent. They don't advertise that.

The tanks do have a vent so the fuel will flow by gravity naturally. I suspect that vent connection is more than just a right angle barbed fitting. I pretty sure there is a check valve in that fitting. It might be spring loaded to hold the valve open so the fuel will flow and then when the tank gets full (if you fill the tank to the neck), the valve closes to prevent fuel flow from the vent hose.

The only complaints I've seen are some say the filler hose check valve doesn't seal adequately allowing fuel run out under the cap and down the side of the truck. They also go on to say it happens when they are four wheeling or riding hard on rough roads.

We don't have that problem while pulling the money machine back there.

My tank vent hose just drops through the bed.
