Yellowstone National Park Trip - 2012

We just returned from Yellowstone 2 weeks ago. We drove 800 miles in 8 days and we have the photos to prove it! Here are some of them.

Firehole Spring

Grand Prismatic Spring - Midway Geyser Basin

Yellowstone Grand Canyon - Yellowstone River

Old Faithful

Mud Volcano - Dragon's Mouth Spring

Excelsior Geyser Crater - Midway Geyser Basin

It was pretty amazing. I would recommend staying in the park if you can. Try staying in different campgrounds to cut down on the driving. We did so much driving that I'm really happy we stayed within the park boundaries.

Yellowstone is amazing, west yellowstone KOA was a good stay., it is so difficult to get into any of the State Parks inside. Yellowstone Canyon was the high light, with the Buffalo wandering down the middle of the road, second.

We stayed at Yellowstone KOA the first night, but then had reservations in the park for the rest of our stay. (KOA was great for the kids!) The larger your rig the earlier you have to call in to make reservations in the park. We were pretty lucky, I called in, in May of 2012, on the first day reservations became available for 2013 so we got exactly what we wanted. Also, I have to agree, Yellowstone Grand Canyon was magnificent and the Bison traffic jams were worth the wait!

Re: Yellowstone National Park Trip - 2012

We were there again in early June. Love it every time. Stay in Fishing Bridge on the South end for two or three days then go stay at the North end for a few. Less driving.
