Adams River Spawning Salmon

Some pics of Salmon..sorry do not know the variety. This is a major spawning river for Salmon. It is near one of of the busier Provincial Campgrounds on the Shuswap Lakes. It is about 1 hour East of Kamloops on the Trans Canada Highway.
These pics were taken last year..can remember when...the folks on the beach are from the Ministry of Fisheries counting the ones on the beach. Bears, eagles, and scavengers come down for a bite after the humans leave. This was quite a site..first time I have seen Salmon spawning...and we missed the peak spawning time.

Re: Adams River Spawning Salmon

I'm guessing that they are either Chinook or Sockeye Salmon.

They are Sockeye. I've been to the run twice, both times at peak years (2006 and 2010) The next peak year is 2014 so start planning! It's an awesome sight, not to be missed.

Sure! I'll post them in the photos area, I don't want to hi-jack this thread.

Re: Adams River Spawning Salmon

No relation, lol, BUT, I was named after him by my hockey-fan parents.
