Wow, this thread sounds like the Jason Eady song " OK Whiskey". When partaking of beer I love a an IPA (never met a hop I didn't like), but for Bourbon I am partial to Buffalo Trace.
Cheers,
Mac

Well that explanation sets a whole lot better. Takes me about 2 weeks to go through a 1.5L of Jack. Don't have much use for beer or wine - too filling and Jack doesn't give me headaches. Many times it's a Jack and Ginger. Cheers.

Thought someone would take the bait, anyway when we camp there is always something refreshing in the cooler on the rzr, and always at the camper! Booze is first on my list, DW worries about the rest! Have Fun and enjoy Camping!

I've never been much of a beer drinker. Only on the hottest days does an ice cold beer sound good.
Whiskey on the other hand, thats my drink of choice and always has been.
If I'm mixing I'll buy cheap stuff like Jack or Pendleton. My favorite stuff lately has been Booker's. Pour it in a glass, add a splash of water and it doesn't get any better.

A good Gin and Tonic (not tonic water) on a hot day is nearly unbeatable. We've converted so many "I don't like gin and tonic" people, it's scary.

Okay... I'll bite, where do you get Tonic and what is it?

I used to buy quinine from my local pharmacy years ago and add to my gin with a big splash of spring water. Unfortunately I can't seem to find quinine anymore, hell I am having trouble finding name brand tonic water.

Might just have to go back dry martinis. My grandfather was infamous for his dry martinis, rumor has it he had the same bottle of vermouth for 50 years, he would make up the martini, pull the cork on the vermouth and pass it in front of the glass.

We like Jack Rudy tonic, it does have quinine in it, and uses other natural ingredients like cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. The taste is a hundred times better, even with cheap Gin. You use a small amount then top up with your favorite club soda. Don't forget the lime...

We recently found some fancy tonic water that used real sugar in it, but it just wasn't as good.

Jack Rudy ingredients: Quinine concentrate, water, citric acid, sugar, lemongrass and orange peel.

Thanks for that! I am headed to Charleston on Sunday, have to chase down a bottle or two.

As far as my gin choices... Hendricks, Bombay, Tanqueray #10 and then I go downhill from there. My bride is a flight attendant so I have very expensive tastes.

That's why we use the Jack Rudy tonic, you only need 1/2 to 3/4 of an ounce per drink.

Hendricks is the best imo, but expensive. Beefeater is a close second for me. That tonic is expensive, but you can get a lot of drinks out of it if you don't go overboard.

That is why I have my bride get it duty free I get Hendricks for ~$15 a litre. She has a standard shopping list that she carries with her when doing the international trips.

Wait a minute...this was about whiskey!!!

For me its Pendleton and I enjoy Fireball cinnamon whiskey at times.

I am a wimp. I like mine with Coke.

A note, I'm a John Wayne fan and finally found a bottle of "Duke Straight Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey, small batch" Ummm...I have a very nice ceramic bottle holder to set the bottle in. Its going to look very good there, with just one shot gone. If you catch my drift.

Beer vs whiskey? Why choose? Miller Lite and Beam and Coke. Can't go wrong either way. Not to steal the thread, but has anyone heard from Cale? Haven't seen a post in a long time. I know he has a ton on his plate between the move and his father in law. Just like to know all is going as well as can be.

Yup the gummit basically taxes it at 100%+ Amazing ain't it? So I buy what I can duty free. Every now and again they will run a special on the airplane duty free stuff and she can buy that too. Last year it was Bailey's BOGO and IIRC it was in the $12-$15 range for two bottles. Stocked up and gave some away as Christmas presents.

If you like Fireball, Jack Fire is a hundred times better. Not quite as sweet, but super good.

Jack Fire....hmmm....haven't seen that locally.

Maybe I can find some to try in San Diego when we're there later this month.

Always open to try something new.

Rusty,

Ya know, back in 1993 we went to Milwaukee for the Harley-Davidson 90th birthday bash. It was fabulous.

One tour was the Miller brewery. With the tour we each got two tickets for a beer in the "beer garden"...it was drawn right off the Miller High Life line. Ice cold. Probably the best two beers I've ever had!!

My wife makes a killer home made apple pie moonshine out of Ever Clear. Perfect for passing the jug on cool nights around the campfire! She found the recipe on google.
