Winterizing

I was reading up on winterizing my Voltage 3600 and it says to start with the faucet closest to the pump when putting in the antifreeze. I don't know where the pump is located. Is this really necessary or can I start with any faucet ? Thanks for any help.

You have to find the pump. That's because, at the pump inlet there is a set of valves. You turn off the valve that pulls from the fresh water tank, and open the valve that pulls from a short (maybe 2 ft) hose curled up by the pump. Then you stick that hose inside a bottle of pink, RV antifreeze, and turn on the pump. Now, starting with the nearest faucet, run water until it turns pink. BTW, and this is IMPORTANT, don't do this until you have also bypassed the how water heater. A similar method of using two valves, to make cold water go around, not through, the water heater. You just drain the water heater. YOU DO NOT WANT THE PINK STUFF IN EITHER YOUR FRESH WATER TANK OR YOUR WATER HEATER.

Thanks . I have a winterization bib next to my city water bib. I think it automatically switches the pump.
Thanks again

Taste and cost. The tank is designed to be emptied. It's a good thing to flush it out at least yearly, to clean out sediments. It takes a lot of flushing to get all the pink out. You might taste it, and it might come through the shower, etc. Finally, cost. $5/gal for a 6 gal tank is $30, more obviously if you have a bigger tank. If you DID get some in the tank (say a mistake with the valves), it's not the end of the world, just more flushing needed.
