So once you put dryer in an hook up the hose from below the washer an slide the dryer back it hangs out to far so the door of the pantry will not close. If you push it back anyway it smashes the round vent hose.
They make a low clearance dryer vent adapter. It might work for what you are trying to do. I have used them in the past. IIRC they are available up to around 50" long.
