voltage trailer wiring to plug to truck

All my lights, brakes, and such work when plugged into my new to me 2011 3500 ram dually. But it kinda feels like breaks are sticking some. Tires look to be rolling ok but not sure. Are the plugs for the newer rams wired the same as the trailer? Is it all supposed to be universal?

Yes, they do follow the same wiring pattern. I'll attach it. But most likely you need to adjust the trailer electric brake controller, located somewhere in your truck, to meet the load of the new trailer. That's another whole subject!

Ok thank you. Could just "feel" heavy from a stop due to this being the first time having side by side in the garage. It slows evenly and smoothly when applying brakes and does not lock up.

I've noticed that in city (stop/go) traffic, my electric brake controller will cause jerkiness in the trailer, and I have to back the adjustment off a notch. But when I get on the highway, I put it back where it was, or I don't even feel those brakes at all when stopping at highway speed. The brake controller is NOT a "set and forget" item. It's an adjustable part of the whole trailer interface.

Thank you Marty. I'll continue to adjust as I go. Maybe you can answer this, will it hurt anything to add 10 psi of air to the nitro fill tires. It has be sitting a couple months and showing 70 psi on all tires cold. Want to get back up to 80psi cold

No it won't hurt. I'll go on record as saying that correct pressure of air/nitrogen is better than the wrong pressure of nitro only. Remember that air itself is 70% nitrogen. Besides, where are you going to go to fill with nitro? Fill with air, as we have for all our lives, and don't worry about it.

Look inside the contacts of the molded-on connector. I have replaced several of these because of excess rubber in the recesses that kept the plug from making a good connection in the socket. Replacing the plug isn't a big deal, just remember to shut off the batteries in the trailer before you cut the end off off.
