Is your hitch in the truck mounted at the highest position?

Wish I could offer you some help. I've got a 2011 Ford F-350 DRW and a Curt Q24 hitch. Because of the height of my truck I needed the Curt hitch at it's lowest setting and the TrailAir pin box at it's highest setting to get the camper to ride level. I immediately noticed the same issue with the pin box making contact with the inside of the bed sides. I raised the Curt hitch over the range of it's adjustability, but regardless of setting, the pin box is just too long to allow for a 90 degree turn without striking the bad sides. Blame it on the construction of modern trucks, high bed heights and tall bed sides.

I know it really doesn't answer your question, but if you have an air compressor add some air and it will clear. At least on mine it will. I need about 3/4 inch from my tow height

What he said was, he called LCI and they told him the medium length pin box is used for short bed trucks and the long length pin box is to be used for long bed trucks.

Apparently what he has is a long bed truck with a medium length pin box so he needs a long length pin box for his truck.

The dealer should have seen that when the unit was connected to the truck but probably the dollar signs got in the way.

You would think that...

The dealer we bought our 3800# GVW Coleman from put a way over sized WDH on it, 800# or 1,000# bars! I asked for something lighter but was told that was all they had and if I wanted something else I would have to pay for special order.

I ordered the correct 600# bars off Amazon and now the trailer and the truck are much happier.

Customer Service seems to be an oxymoron in way too many businesses these days.

You would think that as 'liability anal' as business is these days things like this shouldn't happen.

But, my dealer sent me on my 800 mile trip with a flat tire on the middle axle.

The more we read of these problems the more I think that something HAS to happen to get these clowns under control.

I hope they are picking up the cost on all this and your RV isn't down to long?

My dealer tried the same thing. I checked the tires before I left. Found one at about 40 psi. They aired it up. We spent the night in the parking lot and the tire was low in the morning. They yanked one off of another unit and kicked sent us on our merry way. I wouldn't doubt that they stuck that tire on the other unit and called it all good.

Actually, before I would leave I needed to know what was wrong with the tire. Made them bring me a water hose. I found a small leak in the Sidewall.

There for awhile I thought maybe they put your defective wheel on my unit. But, you had a sidewall leak and I had a pin hole in the wheel.

My new Voltage made it home about 75 miles, and the next day I found a flat...lucky, mine was a valve stem...I changed all mine to medal.

Fanboy,

That .pdf helps a bunch! I ran into the same problem as the OP. First tight camping spot, rear corner of the pin box contacted the rail for my bed cover - minor scrunch. Another tight campsite - ditto for the opposite side. Long wheel base, long-bed truck and a long trailer = maneuvering challenges.

My V3605 has a 1621HD pin box; long style per the chart. I'm wondering if I can swap it out for a 0719 (medium length) box. Looks like it would move the trailer 8.75" closer to the truck and reduce the pin box circle (lateral side clearance) at the same time.

I have plenty of trailer cap to cab clearance, even with the new B&W base (moved the pin forward of the rear axle). I'd have to check the truckbed/bumper corner clearance in a turn and see if I could still lower the tailgate with the trailer attached.

There's not much I can do to increase the vertical bed rail to trailer clearance. I've raised the pin box and the hitch is set as low as it can go so the truck and trailer both sit level loaded. Trailer's already too tall to flip the axles.

Hindsight being 20/20, I might have been better off with a cab/chassis and adding a hauler bed.
