sliding kitchen drawers

Hi All,

Does anybody have an idea that I haven't thought of to get the drawers in the kitchen to stay closed during towing. Not all of them come open but I've adjusted the small tensioners to no avail. The trailer is a 2013 Voltage 3950. Has anyone tried different hardware on the drawers? Thanks.

Do the sliders on your drawers have snap-type holders which are intended to hold the drawer closed when traveling? They are located at the very back of the slide near where it attaches to the back wall or support. Mine has them. Some work OK and some don't although I haven't actually had drawers open on me during travel. In any case, these slides must be replaceable if the holding mechanisms become weak. My other thought would be to install one of those friction holders that used to be used on kitchen cabinet doors. You could install one part on the back of the drawer front and the other on the wooden frame of the cabinet. Hope this helps.

If they are like our Kodiak, there are latches on the bottom of the drawer right behind the drawer face. They hook into a latch on the frame right under the drawer opening.

Have you screwed down the tensioners as far as they will go?

I had the same problem, I adjusted and adjusted and adjusted. Still the damn things came open. I had enough and gave them all I could, the drawer problem is solved. Now if I could only get the doors to stay closed. Most RV industry insists on using the cheap roller catches and hinges on the doors. They are barely adequate in a kitchen in a house.

If they would go to the European style hinge that has the tension built into it, the doors would stay shut.

I have one drawer that opens part way most of time. That is an improvement over my last RV three of them would open all the way. I think this is really an industry problem and our wonderful roads we have.

I'm not sure I understand your comment. Do you mean that the draw opens, but is hard to open?

If the draw is hard to open, then the runners probably need to be adjusted so it slides freely

I just chokes me, I have a drawer or door on the kitchen cabinets is causing me grief, I spend a day adjusting this way and that and atill it sticks

Then my smart ass son the cabinet maket shows up (god love him) and within 30 seconds he has looked at all of the drawers, doors, said where's the screw driver and 5 minutes later they are running in and out like new.

The cheap runners that the RV industry uses usually have nylon rollers running on a metal cannel. Very oftem, the channels get stuck in half assed and hope for the best.

Take the draw out look at the runners, are they the same height, level, twisted or ????.

Once you identify the source, just like the smart ass (god love him) you can correct the problem.

If you need I could rent him out, I'm sure his wife and kids wouldn't mind.
