Slide out problems in 3805

Our living room slide moves out for a few seconds then we hear a kind of grinding noise and it stops. It has a cable pulley system. Anyone else have this problem or know what might be causing it?

There have been reports of the shear pin breaking that holds the gear to the shaft.

The slide will not move at all if the drive pin breaks. Can you look at the cables and motor on top or below and see if any of the cables are loose? Pictures of that area will be helpful.

The slide will come out about 2 inches, then a popping sound begins and it will not go out any further. Ican then bring the slide back in the 2 inches.

Your gear box has a missing tooth. It will need to be replaced

X2 Revere411. Happened to mine once. You can "help" it in or out by pushing if you're in a bind, but it will only get worse.

It happened to me on BOTH of our slides on a 3800... both times ours was the gearbox being made of CHEAP cast aluminum and the steel shaft would break the cup it sits in INSIDE the gearbox! And in turn it breaks one or multiple teeth off the gears. The gearbox is about $100.00 and if you are mechanical then you could do it yourself. If you have your slide in or out you can just simple have someone push/pull the slide in or out while holding the button. We have done that on 2 separate trips while waiting for the gearbox to ship. I will go out and take a picture of the part number. If you can see over the slide top on the inside near the center of the slide, you will see the gearbox and electric motor. It only takes a 1/2” and 9/16” wrench, one Allen wrench and monkeying around with the cables to adjust them right and some patience!!!

Is there an aftermarket gearbox made out of stronger materials than the one that came from factory. Luckily it happened in my driveway & not out boondocking somewhere.

I have never found one, there could be one out now... knowing this industry, there is not.
