Slide issue.
Man, I am having no luck this trip. The big slide on my 3600 is giving me problems. When I bring it in or out it makes a knocking noise and looking at it from the outside when it moves in or out it is way out of plumb. The top is coming in before the bottom. Once it's opened or closed all the way it straightens out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Gearbox or motor gears are damaged (assuming it's a cable slide).

I don't think it is a cable slide. I don't know for sure. Thanks

When the slide is open, do you see a cable (one on top and one on the bottom) on the outside of your slide?

Gear tracks on the bottom or on the sides? i.e. is it a Schtinteck?
BTW, it's not uncommon for a slide to touch at the top before the bottom. Not inches, but a bit.

It's possible that the Schwintek has slipped a cog.

Mostly what you will be able to do now is the manual override procedure. A million videos on how to do this.
When you get home 'taking it apart' will be out of the question.

What will the manual over ride do for me? You say taking it apart is out of the question. Why is that? Thanks a lot

The manual override will allow the slide to come in or out and allow the motors to reset themselves to where they are in sync.
There isn't much an owner can take apart on the Schwintec slide system. You can't take the track system off without supporting the slide, you can take out the motors if you can get to them.
I will remove a motor but it is a chore to get it back in its place. They aren't made for us to repair them.
You may just need to do the override to get the motors working together.

I disagree, I removed my complete ****tek system from both sides of my big slide on my 3950. I used a floor jack a 4x4 and a 2x6 on the flat to support the slide. On my 2013 you have to take the motors off from the outside. I replaced the motors, reset everything and the slide has never failed us since. We have 8 months of full time right after that.
Check and see if your track assemblies are in good working order. Look for chewed up track or gears.
When the slide is moving out, hold the extend button for 6 seconds after the slide is all the way out. This will calibrate the system

I cut slots in my 2011 3950 and was able to remove and replace two failed motors from the inside. Broken wires. I didn't want to remove the slide just to get at the motors.

Can you get the slide closed enough to travel?

Do you have pics or a write up? I have a 2014 3950 - no real issues with slides yet (knock on wood), but would be handy for future reference...

The slide goes in and out just fine, it just makes a loud knocking noise when it is coming in, mostly the last few inches before completly retracted.

Are the tracks in good shape all the way? Only other thing I can thing of is something is loose under the slide that is hitting when it comes in. I had a similar sound on mine, turned out the whisk broom had fallen under the slide and it would turn over and hit as the slide came in the last 10" inches or so. I was pretty sure it wasn't the tracks or drive, because they were clean, and the noise was in the wrong place.

Mine's been banging & knocking when it goes in & out since I bought it. That was over 5 years ago (with the past 3 being full-time) and so far, no issues yet (knock on wood!).
