Replacement 50amp Connectors.

I have a 50' cord that came with my Voltage. The problem that I have is that I never ever have needed more than half of the cord at once. I am looking for some waterproof connectors that I can use to cut my cord at 20' and 30'. This way I can use the 20' cord most of the time and when I need longer I can add the 30' on to make a full 50'. I am looking for a waterproof male and female version of this style 50 amp connector. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I don't recall having ever seen a water proof RV replacement plug, however you can use some silicone in the plug to minimize water entry. Around where the cord goes in and a thin bead where it goes together. Also pack the terminals with dielectric grease. About as close to waterproof as you are going to get.

The only other option would be to convert to Marinco fittings. They are water proof, but they are expensive. I have used them on boats and other projects in the past.

Camping World has replacement plugs (Yellow- Camco) for $15, and receptacles, (also Camco) for $27. Each are on sale now, for 25% off. They seal up pretty tight, but like Aaron says, a little silicone and dielectric grease will add more protection.

On my old 5'ver I always had to use a 30' extension to get to shore power(30 amp), I think my trailer came with like a 20' cord. Instead of trying to waterproof the plugs, I made a hanger on the frame under the trailer that I could hook the connection in. This would keep it up off the ground, and out of the rain. never had a problem with it in 5 years!

Not really an answer to your question but why not just buy a 20' cable and use that, not overly expensive and then if you ever are in the position as you stated of needing both halves after you cut the 50', you would still have the original fully water tight 50' spare.

Just a thought.

Thats a good idea but I doubt I will ever need the full 50' especially in wet weather. I also don't really want to cary around 70' of cable. Since I have the 3200, the pass through storage is not as big as I would like and space is getting limited. I ended up just ordering some connectors for amazon and am going to cut my cord into smaller lengths. I dont really foresee me needing them to be watertight but I figured that it would be the best option if I could find watertight ones.
