Removing center a/c unit in voltage

We tried removing the center a/c unit so that we could re-tape the inlet ducts. Had no problem removing the cover and bolts that hold the unit in place, but the unit would not budge when we tried to dislodge it from the roof. For fear of damaging the roof, we decided against trying to get it off. Are we missing something. Everything I've read said it is a fairly simple process to remove it. Thanks.

I think it's just stuck. Being your in the desert the gasket is just stuck to both the roof & A/C which is a good thing.

It's worth getting it off! Ours didn't want to blow cold air from the center AC until we had it removed and re taped and now it's incredible!
