Problems with leather fading/cracking

Has anyone had fading problems with the black "leather" in their Voltage toy haulers, and possibly other Dutchmen models. Initially it started with the TV remote pouch in the outside entertainment center. I have not used any type of cleaning products on the pouch, so I figured maybe this had to do with it being more exposed to the elements, but in reality I very seldom open that door and never leave it open overnight. Additionally, the trailer is stored inside an enclosed garage, granted not climate controlled but still out of the elements. Just recently I noticed the leather valence above the main entry door inside the camper has started doing the same thing.

Now all of my leather is coming apart. The backs of the furniture, the piping on the sofa, and everywhere on the recliner. I find it hard to believe no one else is having this issue.

I have a small tear in the corner of my recliner where the wood frame poked through; maybe 1 1/2" long. Dutchmen wouldn't warranty. Other than that, no issues and that's with a 95 lb lab, two cats and my tiny frame!

No bueno! (Not good)! Our last toy hauler (Extreme Mega lite) had dark grey "leather" in it, we had it for 7 years and never had an issue... at least not with the leather, we wont get into all of the OTHER problems we had with it!!

Only 'leather' we have in our Voltage is the TV pouch. Yours looks like mildew - ours is fine after 5.5 seasons.

We chucked our leather couch and put in Lay-Z-Boys.

I agree it looks like mildew, but only the outside TV remote pouch (pictured) turned white like that. The rest of the "leather" is just peeling, showing the fabric material underneath. Every time we go camping we find little black flakes of pleather all on the furniture and floors.

Joe, you're lucky if you don't have any of the fake stuff. My voltage has it everywhere: above the doors, the couch, the dinette, the lip on the loft bed, the lip on the garage upper bunk...

Oops, you're right. That padded phake pleather above the entry door has saved my noggin' several times.

Check the brand name of the furniture. If it is Williamsburg (I think that is it) they have been having problems with a wide range of their "fabrics". I will see if I can find the discussion on it.

That would be awesome if you could find something. Do you know where I could find the brand name?

Here are a few pics of my peeling.

Bummer. That just ain't right. Can't be "normal" wear and tear regardless of cost or brand.

Pull the cushions or look underneath, typically the tags are stapled or glued to the frame work somewhere. I am still looking for the thread, I am thinking it was on the Forest River Forum.

No sir, no animals. We have very little interaction at all with any of the furniture since we spend very little time inside the camper.

I did find a thread on the Forest River forum where they were talking about the peeling and the "UltraLeather" brand fabrics. A representative from the UltraFabrics company joined the conversation saying that if it was their material they would stand behind it 100%. However the general consensus was that the material was NOT UltraLeather, and was some cheap knock-off that the RV industry uses to keep costs down. The peeling issues seem to be isolated to the 2012-13 model years across multiple RV brands.

Dear Sinecure,

We are having the same problem with our Voltage 3905. Our couch cushions are starting to peel, getting worse every week. Did you have any luck getting the manufacturer to help you?

Thank you!

My 2015 3990 came with Corinthian leather. LOL. Actually no issues with a lot of use (96 lb lab, two cats with nails, and us living in it 6 mos. a year) other than a small tear where the frame poked thru the vinyl at a corner.

I haven't even tried getting the manufacturer involved because I know it will be a waste of time. The wife and I have decided that when it gets bad enough, we will toss the factory furniture and replace with a store-bought couch and stand-alone dinette chairs. The only downside is we will lose all of the storage drawers that are under the couch and dinette seats.

Ugg, I hope Thomas Payne furniture is better than this, I just dropped $950 on a trifold couch.
