Order 2014 Voltage 3970

New to the forum, I finally decided to order our first toy hauler a tomorrow. We have researched the Voltage along with numerous other manufactures and decided on the Voltage 3970. I have a few questions for the forum.
1. Can anybody explain how the slide weigh are supported with Schwintek system?

2. EPDM Rubber Roof - noticed on other manufactures roofs they have a 6 inch over overlap of EPDM material and the Voltage has about 1 inch. Open to PROS/CONS on the differences.

3. Has anybody installed stackable washer/dryer in their voltage, if so, what weight increase did you notice?

4. Pin Box Trailair Tri-Glide 21K over Hensely TS3 hitch, thoughts about utilizing the Trailair with a standard hitch or drop the Trailair Tri-Glide and go with a TS3 hitch with a standard Pin Box.

Thanks for help and look forward to your comments

I assume that the slides are supported by the rollers below the floor, and the three gears that drive it on the sides keep it upright.

Don't know about the roof, my old trailer had about the same overlap down the side.

I don't think a stackable W/D would work in mine without removing the wall unit that houses the radio/DVD player, and the garage TV.

I run with a standard Reese 20K hitch and the Trailair airbag pinbox. I think the trailer pulls very well with this combo. I have pulled it with a 2000 F-350 SRW and now have my F-450.

X2^

Except I am using the 25K Reese Elite fifth wheel hitch with the Trail Air. It's a good combo.

That's a nice trailer. My wife is pressing me to get one on order. I have to sell mine first though.

We have been very pleased with our Splendide WD2100XC. Our Voltage came with washer hookups and the space was a perfect fit for the Splendide. It weights 148 pounds. We use it nearly everyday.

Not that I'm in the market for a washer dryer for my trailer but I'm curious on how the dryer portion vents out. Currently my hook-ups are in the garage so it would not seem to be a big deal but in the 3970 the hook-ups are in the bedroom closet. Does the hot air from the dryer vent out into your living space?

My model is a vented washer/dryer. Since the back of the machine is toward an outside wall I cut a round hole and installed a normal dryer vent I purchased at Camping World.

Thanks for the comments. a few additional questions about % of MRSP and depreciation rates.
What would you consider a fair price, 20 - 30% of MSRP for a new toy hauler?
What is the average depreciation rate per year on toy haulers?

Thanks for the help,

Thanks for the help,
I can tell you that I have priced this trailer through a couple sources with basically all options except for the second Voltage chair at 79.8k. Add full paint (which is what I would order) for a total of 84k.

Depreciation really depends on how you plan to move it. I have done my homework on this as my wife wants to upgrade and I would take a huge hit trading it in. Now I didn't put anything down when I financed but I felt like I got a really good amount off of MSRP. I have a 2013 and the wholesale value right now is 25% less than what I paid for it. The dealer wanted to give me 6k less than wholesale on trade. Private sale could improve upon wholesale if I wasn't looking to move it too quickly.

Soonernation, where do you find the wholesale value at? The only source I was able to use was off NADA website and the average prices online.

84K for a 2014 3970 with full paint, wish I could find that dealer near me. My local dealer is offering me roughly at 28% off of MSPR.

I got the wholesale number on my current trailer from a dealer that would love to take my trailer in on trade so I can buy a new 3970 but understands I would be way upside down. He provided me with the wholesale number and said I should list it for that amount if I wanted to move it quickly via private sale.

Our worksheet or order sheet has the 3970 at MSRP $121,256 - 30% = $84,879. We has every option figured in minus carpet/chairs and added Dual Pane windows and 3 season doors (no full body paint). If I could find a dealer that offered me it between 80K-85K with full body paint, I would consider driving to get it. I have a 2010 Carindal 3804BH to trade in on it and we are taking a 2K hit for the trade in.

Holman RV in Batavia, OH gave me the best price by far. Sub 80k with everything except dual pane windows. The savings is really nice but the inconvenience of a 14.5 hour drive each way and the level of service I may lose (not that is is that great to begin with) by buying from someone other than the selling dealer could offset that savings. I'll make a final decision when I get to the point of pulling the trigger on a new trailer.

If you want full paint, I was told the paint booth is backed up right now and it would be 15 weeks from time of order to delivery.

Looking for any information about installed equipment on a 2014 Voltage 3970 (fully loaded), schedule arrive at delears early May. I plan to be very familiar with the proper operation of each items in it, I.E. Load Management system, Generator, AC controls (3 Installed), etc by downloading manuals and what I can gather from forums. Any help would be gratefully appreciated; I’m to prevent my dealer overlooking anything during the PDI. Can anybody point me the right direction for a good PDI check listing?

No need to download manuals - you'll receive a huge library from your dealer.

I have question concerning generator and shore power, the 3970 has a load management system installed, do I have to discount the shore power before the generator will take over as the power source. I'm hoping it has a switch over box that will automatically switch to generator power once it is up to speed and can handle the load.

This forum has been a great help getting me ready for my PDI.

The generator automatically takes priority when started.

Just FYI for people willing to travel for there rv, knowing that warranty work would not be made from place of purchase. Online, dutchmenrvexpress.com was good to me. Internet sales out if California. We picked ours up in elkhart from a jayco dealer. They beat holman by a few g's. Exact same ordered options. Have no complaints about anyone I dealt with. All were wonderful people.
