New Ford Superduty pin box clearance

Wanted to share my fix for clearance issues with our 2018 F350. Problem is the newer pick up beds are deeper, rumor has it GM and Dodge are going the same route as Ford. No matter what we did with making adjustments to our Trail Air pinbox and Reese hitch we just couldn’t get the turning radius I wanted. After doing the research and watching a You Tube video we opted for the GenY Executive pinbox and problem is solved!

I had almost the opposite problem with my truck. 2017 Ram 2500 4WD and the truck sits about 2 inches or so higher than a 2WD which translates to the rear of the trailer being too low and scraping on the slighted incline of a driveway, etc. I had to figure out how to get the front of the trailer lower in the bed by a combination of putting the pin box up as high as possible in the bracket and the hitch as low as possible in the truck bed.

Fortunately, I didn’t have any issues with the trailer clearing the bed rails. My hitch is the B&W companion which has a ton of adjustability both forward and back as well as up and down.

But I agree that truck beds and ride heights differ quite a bit these days.

I have the same problem with my 2018 F 450, I never measured the depth of the bed compared to my 2013 F 350, but when I tried to order the same in bed tool box, I was told it will not fit. The reason is the top side rails on the aluminum bed are much wider than the metal beds. the bed width and length obviously are the same, but the tool box could not be inserted. I caught the side rails a few times already, thankfully with just the bed cover rails. I just had the upgraded sim box installed by LCI, and they tried to increase my clearance. I might of gained an inch, but it didn't help much on real sharp turns. Thanks for the info, I will look into this hitch.

I didn't have a clearance problem on the 2013, but I surely did on the 2018.
