Lights over couch in slide out

Has anyone had to replace the small (2-3") lights in the slide-out over the couch? I have a 3200 with 5 small lights over the couch. How does one remove those lights without breaking them?

I'm specifically looking for a replacement that has a built-in switch. Having 5 of them is overkill.

Thanks

To replace the bulbs, you simply twist the glass globe part ¼ turn counter-clockwise. Sometimes they're a little tight & tough to turn... you may need to partially pull down, grab the base with one hand, while turning the globe with the other.

As for replacement of the fixtures themselves with individual switched units... good luck.

If I can figure out how they are chained together I may be able to wire in a single toggle-type switch on the ceiling of the slide-out to turn them all off.

Are you an Air Traffic Controller? I live a couple of blocks from the Air Traffic Control Center in Longmont CO.

I put a switch on the ceiling to turn mine off when not needed. Mine was fed from the garage side of the slide. I have a 3200 and would imagine yours is the same. I found a small brown 12v switch that was barely noticeable when installed.

They have spring 'ears' that hold them in place. Just pull them down. Careful not to get your fingers snapped! (as me how I know)

Just buy LEDs

Replace incandescent with LEDs. Bulbs are cheap if you look around. They use virtually no power. If they are too bright with 5, just put in 3 bulbs. Wires and switches not practical in a very narrow space.

Easy fix

Most of them you just gently pry the cover.

You can replace the individual lights with new ones that have a built in switch. The run about $10 each at any RV center. I've replace three in my unit, I didn't like 5 lights coming on at the same time.

I can find the larger lights with built in switch, however I am unable to find the small 2-3 inch variety with a switch.

So you found the 12v feed for the string on the garage side and put an in-line switch. What type of switch did you use? I assume you had to drill into the ceiling...

Yes, I cut a small hole in the ceiling and installed a two pin boat rocker switch. Most of the time I have those lights off and use the lights that are on the wall of the slide.

I haven't tried to trace the wiring for the lights on the wall of the slide. I assume the switch you installed only controls the ceiling lights and both the wall light on the side opposite the garage is not affected?

I appreciate the help...
