High Pointe convection/microwave problems..

I have a 2014 Rubicon 2100. One of the little plastic tabs that hold the door shut on the microwave/convection unit broke and now the unit acts like it is running but is just making noise & not heating or microwaving. Anybody else have problems with one of these units?

Not yet... can you glue the tab back on with epoxy? I would suspect that the tab was one of the safety interlock switch triggers.

Rubicon High Pointe oven broken door tab

The unit is a High Pointe 1.1 Cu Ft built in Microwave/Convection Oven.
The tab is broken off inside the door but I guess I could try gluing it. I am skeptical that the glue will hold.
I agree, that the broken tab is a safety trigger and is thus preventing the unit from working. It is actually a flimsy piece of plastic. I can't believe that such a critical piece would be so, ...fragile.
In looking on the internet, I see a distributor called Burnstein's is selling similar High Pointe units for $185. Similar name brand GE etc.. seem to be starting at $500.
So, I guess I can see why it would break down after a just a few uses.

Replace it with something from WM if you can't cobble up a work around for the switch. I have no clue what the difference is between an "RV rated" microwave and one for regular kitchen use. We used a regular $69.95 microwave in our popup for close to 10 years with no issues. I have helped a couple of buddies replace the ones in their RV's with regular ones. Last one was 3 years ago and it is still working just fine.

Back in the days when I repaired VCRs some broken parts couldn't be super glued or sourced. I have used some trick stuff to put plastic back together and even to replace broken gear teeth.

It's a common acrylic material, specifically found on a dozen or so women these days. I went to the nail salon and asked if I could buy the powder and catalyst but she said no, she'd just give me partial bottles she had around.

Think about it, this stuff is very hard and durable, sticks to a human nail, can be sanded and filed and painted. It'll stick where super glue won't fuse some plastics.

That glue sounds interesting, If I could get some of that, it would probably be better than the original unit.

Just sniff around a beauty shop where they do acrylic nails, maybe you'll get lucky.

I have the same unit but no broken tabs yet. Let us know if you are able to fix it. Mine has been holding up for almost two years so far. Never know when things will go wrong but knowing repair hints is very helpful.

Tried gluing the tab back in

I tried gluing the tab back in with the "Gorilla Glue" brand of Super Glue, I attached 3 before and after pictures of the broken tab.
I guess I am skeptical that it will hold.
