I have a triple axle Voltage so I can get away with E rated LT truck tires. My trailer hasn't had any issues with the Michelin XPS Ribs I put on when the trailer was new 3+ years ago. If you have the double axle trail I don't believe the E's would have enough load rating and a step up to G's would be necessary. Or give the new Good Year Endurance a try. Sounds like a good tire.

Bottom line is anything is better than those China bombs.

I got about 20,000km out of the OEM tires on my 3950 but it's a tri-axle. LT R250s on now.

The Sailun g rated tires are rated at 4400 lbs each and yes they are heavy compared to the old tires. I found out that you can't manually crank out the slide on the Schwintex slides. I was told by Camping World " to get 4 buddy's and push it out and push it back in when I got ready to leave, but make sure you put a 2x4 to keep it from coming out going down the road ". I don't think so. Apparently the motors have a built in " break " that you have to overpower to move it when this type stuff happens or a motor takes a dump.

You have to get to the slide motors on top of the slide, remove a screw, and pop them up to release them. Then you can push the slide in.

The slide was already in, you can't get to the screws to pop it up unless the slide is at least part way out.

i put the goodyears on last week when the cbomb struck again. very different than the original tires. heavier, taller, wider... even though they are the same size by the numbers.

Manual override only works when you still have wires running to the motor , which I don't. It would have made the one side go out but the other would not have moved without some help from friends pushing.

I added pics of the offending tire. second one. If anyone has issues with their tires, I recommend going to safecar.gov to file complaints about these china bombs!

Sometimes, the amount of damage they cause to the RV is covered by your insurance BUT, one day, someone will really get hurt. Everyone needs to go to the website and file complaints concerning the tires they are installing. I know not every tire is perfect but most of the AMERICAN companies are willing to do something about defective or poorly made tires. these China things, they could care less and the RV "assemblers" don't seem to care, it's all about the $$$!

franktafl, Your right, of all the RV's I have owned (6) over the years, these China Bombs should be outlawed, A lot of us have been lucky, not having a real bad accident.......most of us have changed the tires in the first year of ownership, and even if the cost was less then $1,000.00 for 4 tires, I picked up 6 tires...Its not a cost everyone was thinking of ON THE FIRST YEAR....

Well, the old "Westlake china bombs" finally went on the way up to CO a few weeks ago. I must admit, through very close monitoring and TLC, I actually got 3 plus years and almost 7000 miles on them. The first one didn't actually blowout, it just starting throwing the tread off. With my typical luck, I was in the middle of nowhere NM when it happened. After changing to the spare, 30 miles down the road I had a second blowout! Luckily we had just came through a tiny little town which had a tire shop, of course he only had new "china bombs" but at least I was mobile again. As soon as we found a sizeable town, I replaced all 5 with Goodyear's.

Damage wasn't too bad, just bent the skirt metal and of course destroyed the fender flare.

Very happy to hear you had minimal damage. Could have been worse. My RV has the type of axle that is independent of the second axle so there was NO way for me to travel, even a little distance, on a flat. By today's standards, 7000 miles is NOTHING for a tire. BUT, I found that there is a tremendous amount of difference between my new tires and the old ones. Even the amount of AIR PRESSURE is different, higher than what the china bombs were rated for. Even though the tire was the same number, size, etc (as listed on the tire) the new tires were larger and wider than the CB's!

Did you get them balanced when you had the new ones installed? I have seen some discussion saying they didn't need to be.. i disagree!

Yes, all tires were balanced. I've heard the same about not needing it, but it certainly doesn't take them more than a minute to balance the tire when mounting so why not.

Needing to replace my West Lakes before I head to TX. at the end of the month.
OEM tires are ST 235/80R16 E with the speed rating "L" 75MPH. I'm only a two axle on my V3805 so I'm considering stepping up to to a G rated 14 ply tires. Looks like the Heartlands and Sailun say you need a 6.5 wide wheel for the G rated 110 psi on theses tires. For those of you who have gone up to the G rated tires did you change out you wheels too or are you just running the new G tires on the OEM Wheels?

I just reused the oem wheels but recommended installing the metal valve stems. I also went with the 235/85/R16 G 14 Ply rating, they work great. I'm set at 85 psi carrying 1 bike and that seems to be working fine.

My new tires are listed on the sidewall for max inflation of 85 psi. Of course, the RV placard lists 65 for the junk they installed. What does everyone inflate their tires to? Currently, I asked them to stop at 70-75 PSI. I understand inflating them to their MAX pressure (as indicated on the tire) causes wear in the center of the tire and limits side wall flex. The china bombs I had on the vehicle lists 65 PSI as MAX on the tire itself.

Curious how many of you guys had issues with the Westlake tires blowing out that are the E rated and steel belted?

I was putting air in my tires today and noticed they say they are steel belted. The OEMs are the Westlake 235/80/R16 E rated steel belted.

I didn't give my Westlakes a chance to blow up - got rid of them as soon as I good. Replaced them with Michelin's. No problems in almost 4 years now.
