Generator

I have a 2015 Voltage 3805. I fired up the generator for the first time to see what the generator is connected to. None of the built-in came on so I am wondering what the generator powers up?

Powers everything. Ensure your breakers on the generator are on and listen for the transfer switch to change over

Generator

Also, it takes about a minute or so before it will start to power the electric but it is fully automatic on the transfer.

Also, assume you are not the original owner here? 5 or so years would be far too long to go before using it. Given it started I would guess it is a new to you RV. The fact that is started up is a good sign.

Once you get it figured out you really should run it every month or two max with a load on it for an hour or so. Also change the oil and filter too. Filter is tricky to get to as you need a socket extension and the right size filter wrench and you will want a funnel to fill the oil as it is funny angle. You also might need to let it run and then top off the oil to get it full. I forget but believe it is 2 quarts.

You tube has several videos on the servicing. I changed the oil, replaced the 2 plugs, new air filter, new fuel filter, oil and oil filter. Parts cost around $95.00. The plugs are a little tricky to get to but its all easy to do. I couldn't get 2 quarts of oil back in even after I ran it. I used Onan parts you could use aftermarket stuff and save a few bucks. I run mine every month and I put a load on while doing it. Both A/C's and other stuff all on. It does take my gen maybe a minute before it comes online in the trailer.

If your connected to shore power the gen wont connect to your trailer. Like Donsinger said also check the breakers inside the door on generator, should be two breakers.

Actually if the transfer switch is wired correctly, the generator becomes primary source when started. Even when connected to shore power. Inside the transfer switch should be an LED that will indicate generator powered

Good info. I always turn off shore power when exercising mine. Thanks for the info.
