Chemical smell in RV

We're getting a very strong chemical smell in our 2015 Voltage 3970. It's very hard to describe but the closest thing I can think of that it reminds me of is fingernail polish remover. Could it be coming from one of our A/C units? Anyone have any clues as to what it could be and if it's dangerous for us? Thanks so much!

Ammonia? That would be the fridge leaking down, dangerous. No open flame and get it checked out ASAP! To the best of my knowledge the A/C units use a form of coolant that is odorless.

You should treat any new of unusual smells as potentialy deadly in a small space like a camper.

The active ingrediant in nail polish remover is Acetone, very strong chemical oder to it. It's used as a thinner and cleaner for some resins.

Acetone will make you "high" before it makes you passout. High concentrations can lead to brain damage and death.

If it's a barn yard smell, that's the ammonia that Aaron is pointing to.

Have you had anyone working on the camper lately, an acetone soaked rag could be the culprit.

I have been around a newer ac unit that had a major refrigerant leak (Dometic 15k) and can confirm that there is no odor. Only the smell of money leaving my wallet.

Propane leak? Check the stove burner dials to make sure they're completely off.
