Bedroom AC Not Cooling

If it's not one thing it's another... So my bedroom AC quit cooling. At first, it was cooling ok. Then I discovered that the plenum separator was not installed properly. After I fixed that issue, I reveled in my troubleshooting sucess, until my AC started shooting ice everywhere at random times throughout the night. So my next item on the list was to clean the air filter, check both sets of coils, verify compressor operation, and look for any air leaks. As time went by the AC gradually became just a fan, loosing any cooling effect whatsoever. Now I'm looking at dropping several hundred dollars on a new unit. Has anyone else had to replace their bedroom air conditioner yet?

While working on my AC unit I noticed a temperature probe that was inserted into the condenser unit. There was nothing holding it in place and was loose enough to fall out. I fiddled with it until I was satisfied that it was secure. Not sure what it's for but may be worth looking at.

When mine started shooting ice, it was done for, bad condenser coil. It was covered by warranty though, how old is the unit?

I bought the trailer in April of 2015, it's out of the standard Dutchmen warranty.

Mine wouldn't cool. The mechanical thermostat was out of adjustment. It wasn't bolted down tight either and leaked water all over our feet till i got it tightened down.

If you have an analog T-stat, you might want to do the digital T-stat mod. Here's the link to the mod posted on another forum.

RV Digital Thermostat Upgrade | ModMyRV

This was one of the best mods that I've made, it's made our cold weather camping a whole lot more comfortable. The temperature only fluctuates +- 1 degree from the set temperature.

The furnace or A/C will cycle more often, but for shorter times.
