Anyone load Jeep in Voltage??

I am thinking about loading my Jeep into my 2014 Voltage 3818 for some upcoming trips.
It is a 97 TJ with a Long arm lift and 35" tires, so a little heavier than stock. I see that the ramps are rated at 3K lbs. I am over that weight some, but understand that the jeep weight will be at different ends of the ramp at the same time shortly during loading. I would think this fact would negate the potential of collapsing the ramp.

I am just wondering if anyone else here loads their jeeps and what size, into their voltage, and how do you feel the ramp holds up to the task, as well as the D rings in the garage. I plan to use 4 of the D Rings in front and 4 in the back when I strap it down to take some of the weight off of each.

Just thought I would seek some experienced input on this before giving it a go.

Thanks.

From my experience, most toy hauler ramps (including some Voltages) start bowing considerably when a weight of a single axle (w/2 tires), centered in the middle of the ramp door (rolling or static) starts approaching 1.5k. Axle weights on your Jeep are going to be approaching 2k each.

Gotta wonder how they placed that 3k on the door to obtain that 3k rating. Huge difference between, say, evenly distributing 3k of sandbags (only one or two high) on the ramp door vs. stacking 3k in sand bags vertically in the center of the door (simulating one 3k axle).

I'm with joebedford, video please!!

Those D rings aren't that strong. I definitely wouldn't use them to strap down a Jeep. I've broken 3 of them just strapping my 850 lb golf cart down.

You know... I really hate to poo-poo anyone's ideas that they post. I mean, if you feel safe doing it, who am I to rain on your parade? But on this one I just gotta say that I have my doubts.

Just because someone is ABLE to do something, just doesn't always mean that its a good idea, or that they should.

These rigs are called "toy haulers" for a reason... to haul "toys", not necessarily primary movers. Especially when all of that heavy weight is usually BEHIND the rear wheels. I just keep getting a mental picture of a lead sinker on the end of a fishing line.

I'd love to see is a few good photos of the suspension on one of these rigs with a Jeep CJ, or something of similar weight loaded in it... and what I'd REALLY love to see is video of the same suspension as it's being towed over some of these crappy roads we travel across the country.

I wish this forum had a "like" button! I would wonder if there is a weight restriction on stuff called toys.

Don't the garages have a load limit? I have seen them on some toy haulers.

I find these published numbers a little hard to believe. But of course they don't tell you the max cargo weight also includes water/food/life's necessities.

I've always considered my Jeeps to be toys!!! On my 3818, & probably most Voltages, it's got a 12" I-beam frame that is a lot stouter than any of my previous toy haulers all of which I've hauled my rock crawler in! When I measured out the fitment of my CJ the center of the front axle will be pretty much on the center of the middle axle of the trailer, I feel confident this will be fine! My last trailer was a 2 axle Gulfstream & when I loaded my 4200 lb Cherokee in it the suspension compressed 1" I hauled this on a 1500 mile round trip down through AZ & back to CO with no problems at all! I appreciate all the input & I'll keep you posted as to how this works out for me!

Guy next to us here in Lake City, CO...loaded his CJ-5 in his Raptor...that's very close to my Voltage 3800. Just drove it right up into the garage. No extra supports. Jacks were up as had to pull forward to get room to load. No big deal. Said he'd done it many times.

I have a post on here somewhere regarding the much heavier D-rings I installed to tie down my Polaris General.
