AC Leaks

Has anyone had an issue with the AC units leaking water after long periods of rain and they only leak when the units are running?

Are you taking about leaking inside the RV or water coming off the roof when running the A/C. ?
Water coming off the roof when running is normal as it's just taking the humidity out of the air.

I have not noticed, but unfortunately, if the main AC unit is leaking for me, I am sure I will have a lot of water damage before I notice, as there is no plenum inside...just the return vents offset.

Now, they way the AC is installed, I would imagine there is a chance that rain could seep in past the seal, as mine is lag bolted to a wood frame...I can only imagine that it will pull loose over time and the seal will allow water to seep over time. A project of mine in the future will be a way to figure out how to tightly mount the unit to the roof (compress the neoprene seal).

Another spot you could have water...a small tear in the roof membrane. When I pulled the middle unit to tape up the duct and air box, I noticed a tear in the roof membrane. It looked as though the AC was set down corner first on the roof. Cleaned up the area and put a piece of EternaBond tape over, good-to-go now.

Like some other Voltage owners here, I have taken off my middle a/c unit (twice), the one that is fully ducted to the kitchen/living room. First time to re-tape the ducts and then a couple of weeks ago for an inspection of the duct tape after a summer's use.

I found the duct tape to be in excellent condition, no evidence of any water leaking into the ducts, and the a/c rubber seal very capable of keeping out water from the outside. The four lag bolts are long and stout and do a sufficient job of keeping the seal tight. I also took this opportunity straighten the fins and blow out any dirt.

The holes my 4 lag bolts go into are drilled completely through the wood. Seems a butterfly type bolt could be installed to really pull the unit down tight.

AC Leak

I'm not talking about the condensate leaking off the roof. All three AC units leak water into my trailer when it rains. Everything has been inspected and the roof liner is in good shape. The trailer is only 1-1/2 years old.

The 3 a/c units on my 3600 are sealed up real good against rain coming into the unit and then into the trailer. The only way I can see rain getting into the trailer is thru the bottom seal between the roof and the a/c. The seal is about 1 inch thick and is real stout. However, there are several wires going from the trailer to the a/c unit at the intake side. Perhaps the wires are stuck between the roof and the seal? I can't think of any other way all three units leak when it rains.

If I'm reading Hucky post correctly, they only leak if they are running. Don't understand why that would make a difference.

It is possible the evaporator's or condenser's (what ever the finned thing is called), drip tray isn't draining and causing the fan to pick up the water and depositing it into the air vents or ductwork.

It's the condenser & yes that might cause it, but he says it only does it when it rains. So that would mean even on a humid day it should leak but it doesn't.
I would pull the A/C cover off & check the fan blower housing to see if rain could be getting in. But then again all three are doing the same thing. Can't believe all would have the same problem.

Hmmm...I may give Home Depot a looksie this weekend...I will be able to have a good look up there (above the fixture hanging in the center of the main area). I am going to pull a section apart to see if I can put a switch into the lights to control the LED separately from the hanging lights...
