3950 actual empty weight
For those that are interested...I am in the process of moving across country and needed an empty weight ticket so I can get paid for my household goods...well, after emptying the trailer of everything not permanently attached, she weighs in at 16,300 pounds...this is about 600 pounds over the door jam sticker of 15,680 pounds. The only water I did not empty was the hot water heater and I am carrying about 30 gallons of fuel between the two aft tanks...so that number may be closer to 300 pounds...
I am rolling out Friday morning, I will get a full travel weight at that time...

Cale,
Is this the first time you will be pulling over any distance?
I am on the return trip from Panama City, Fl to Medina, Ny back to PC. My F350 pulls the 3950 like it is not even back there. This is my first venture out of flat Florida and it handles the hills without effort. This beast is actaully a dream to tow, much better than my last 32' Dutchman 2 axle bunk house!
I am traveling with no fuel in aft tanks but do have about halh a tank of fresh water onboard.
Make sure you check the air in your Trailair hotch daily, mine tends to leak down after a 7 hour day pull.
Fair wind shipmate. Keep us posted on your voyage.
Are you headed to Pax? I go there occatipnally for work.

Thom,
We have put on a few thousand miles on the CA Coast....not exactly the greatest roads around.
I agree with the Ford being a dream. I have a total of 140 gallons of fuel, hopefully fuel won't be a problem like it was when we came from FL two years ago. With all the fuel and being loaded like we are, we are pushing 30k combined and we still get about 10 mpg on the hilly roads around here.
We are in fact heading to PAX...you will have to look us up!! Will be there for at least the next four years...going to retire after this tour.

Thom - how old is your 3950? I had my hitch airbag replaced under warranty as it would leakk down each trip. Filled it this spring and has yet to lose a pound this season.

It is right at 6 months old but it has spent 4 1/2 of those months at dealership for warrenty work on bedroom slide, I am in no hurry to give it back to them again.

Don't blame you there. Wonder if they'd order it and give it to you? Easy to install... Just a thought

Did you go straight to Ultra Fab for the warranty replacement?

Don,
IIRC, you added two more shocks to the pin box....are you still adding the same amount of air as before to the bag?
I may tackle putting an air gauge on it today so I can verify air pressure with a look...

Ahh, but Michigan has an excuse....it can blame winter....California has no one to blame. These roads have about destroyed our vehicles. When we take them in for service, they spend so much time hunting down squeaks and rattles for us, then even they ultimately blame the roads. I am looking forward to some nice smooth interstate driving this weekend....besides the little stints on I-5 ( north of LA)and I-15 from LA to San Diego, we have not seen an actual interstate in nearly two years...

No need to make excuses for shoddy work. Ohio gets winter just as bad but there roads are smooth as glass right at the state line on I-75. Interstates here last about 2-4 years from new and they require extensive work again. Pathetic

Getting back to Cale's original post, anyone who doesn't believe these things aren't heavy, check out the ruts I put in my mother-in-law's front yard last week in NY.....
She was not a happy camper....

At least you are going today . It's suppose to be a little cooler at the Needles, Ca . Only going to be in the high 90's. Next week supposed to get to 113 and up degrees.
Be safe and enjoy!
