2017 Voltage

My son (23 active duty Coast Guard )recently purchased a 2017 Voltage Epic Toy Hauler and unfortunate he didnt get a good orientation from the dealer or he was overwhelmed by all the information. either way the dealer has been zero help with any questions so I am reaching out to the community. The first issue is dumping, His in command shows two grey and one black tank. yesterday we had someone come out to pump them as he does not have sewer hookups where he is at for now. We connected to the line under the slide out and pulled the grey valve. all went well. When we went to dump the black we connected to the line towards the rear of the trailer and pulled the valve but it didnt appear as if anything came out but if we flushed the toilet you could hear it flow. I also saw saw a pull handle back by the black hookup with no label. what would that be for because I still cant find how to dump the second grey tank.

basically I am asking anyone who has this same trailer to help

Thanks in advance

I have a same year Voltage but not the Epic model. I have two gray tanks and one black. But, all tanks discharge through the same connection. My front gray which holds the bathroom gray (shower and sink), as well as the lone black tank have pull handles in the wet bay compartment that are easy to see and use. The rear gray tank that is for the kitchen sink and washer/dryer hookups have a separate pull lever towards the back of the trailer. This lever was not shown to me when I purchased which resulted in a major mess the first time I dumped because the dealer left that valve open so all that gray water flowed out of the sewer connector when I removed the cap so I could connect my hose. Fortunately, it was only gray sink water and not black!

It sounds like your rig actually has two different sewer hose connectors so I can’t help you other than to tell you there is likely another pull valve someplace that you need to locate.

Voltage's come in several floorplans. Mine has two bathrooms. The dump under the slide and forward of the wheels, takes care of the kitchen sink (separate valve), the shower/sink (another valve), and the toilet (another valve). Behind the wheels is another dump that empties the rear sink/toilet.

When I get back to the trailer I post a pic to see if it makes more sense . His trailer is a 3970 if that helps clarify a floor plan

Here are the two connections I have. And you will see I have three pull valves

Ok, here's what you "should" have:

The toilet (black tank) and bathroom sink/shower (front grey tank) are the pull valves that are in your wet-bay.

The kitchen sink runs to your 2nd grey tank... and the handle for that is probably near your rear wheels on the driver's side (street side), as shown in these photos:

When you dump your tanks... ALWAYS dump the black tank first. Then dump your front grey tank, as that allows you to fully wash away the sewage from your black tank thru your hose. Then dump the 2nd grey tank by pulling the handle by the tires.

Now you also have a fresh water tank dump valve... and it's probably located somewhere underneath the center of the trailer, and looks like this:

Thanks for the updated information and that makes total sense. Except for the fact that I have this sticker on the outside of the back line . It didn’t make any sense to me that a black tank would be back there when there is no bathroom but a grey would make sense.

So you're saying that you have TWO sewer hose outlets.... yet only have ONE bathroom?

the floorpans for the 3970 I looked at online do not show a 2nd toilet in the back.

However, if that's true, it sounds as though they installed a 2nd outlet & line by mistake. If you had a 2nd toilet in the back, that outlet would in fact be a dump for a 2nd black tank.

The label says black but who knows maybe they applied the wrong label because I only have one bathroom which is in the front of the trailer. The back one is right next to the kitchen. I guess either way it needs to be dumped.

I have a 2017 voltage with 2 sewer outlets. the one in the front takes care of the front bathroom (black and gray)d and kitchen. handles in the front compartment. The rear outlet has 2 handles one black one gray. I found out that the gray one is for the rear bathroom sink and washer hook up. The gray one empties into the front hook up and the back toilet comes out the rear hook up . why they did that nobody knows

Because, you want black-tank sewage to have a very short run from the tank to the outlet, at the greatest angle possible. Remember, you're depending on gravity to do the work here.

While the rear grey tank waste-water can flow easily on a shallow angle towards the front outlet, the sewer-waste from the rear toilet would not flow as well on such a shallow angle. Measuring from the rear to the front, that's a long way for everything to go... and the angle would be almost flat.
