2014 Voltage 3600 advice/recommendations

Et.al,
Im new to the RV 5th wheel world. I have the opportunity to purchase a one owner 2014 Voltage 3600 at pay off, which is around 34k. I will be using this to travel and live in as a travel nurse. What should be or will be any concerns with this year model? There just isn't much information on the web about this model, some I am asking owners for assistance. Also, I will be going this weekend to look at it with the owner. What would be things you'd recommend to inspect? Here are some things that have been replaced per the owner: Roof, fans, all three AC's, tires and bearings. If anyone has a check/inspection list that would be great.. Thank you for any information or guidance given....

Is he on this list? And what modifications
Have been done to upgrade The unit
After we bought ours 2017 we were not very happy
With the factory workmanship But after upgrading
It to our standards, tires a/c units and other items
We are very happy with it. I also believe the early
Units Had better workmanship Than our year
Just our opinion.
There are company’s out there that will look over
The unit for you from roof to wheels.

Thanks Ovalvw for the reply. He is not on the list. Im not sure of any upgrades other than what he replaced as new equipment.
Do you know or have a name of the company who will inspect it? Thanks

Are they members on this forum? Get their user name and search for their posts. They may have mentioned issues here.

I would use the same PDI found on our forum here to do an inspection..(check to see if there is a fresh water tank ~smirk~ )

Good luck-

You’re on it! Most Dutchmen owners show up here sooner or later.

There are so many things here that scare the begeezus out of me… starting with the 2nd portion that I’ve quoted.

If I’m reading that correctly… the ROOF, fans, ALL THREE ACs, tires & bearings have REPLACED. Not ‘repaired’… but REPLACED. If that is correct, I gotta ask “Why?”. Those aren’t things that normally need to be “replaced”. Repaired, maybe… one fan, or one AC replaced maybe… but why all of them?

That suggests to me the rig has been in some type of accident. Either driven under a too-low bridge, or possible fallen tree damage.

Now maybe I’m wrong, and I hope I am… but if correct, even as an experienced RVer I’d be running away from this thing. And yet you say you’re new to 5th wheel RVs, and seriously considering buying it.

There’s something that smells rotten here… and I would SERIOUSLY advise you to find a reliable mobile RV mechanic to come with you when you go to look at this thing.

Yes I am going to get a mobile RV repairman to come out and inspect the trailer. I found some PDI on the internet that are pretty generic, but Im sure one will not be needed

Good grief! Pick one...

Earlier I mentioned that there were several posted on this forum, all you needed to do is search for them in the search function at the top of these pages... Something tells me I would be careful if I were you and NOT rely on the word of your friend becsuse... IF you look at some recent posts, you will find someone "in the biz" recommended a certain model and it turned out to be a royal PITA! IF you don't do your due diligence, it's on you.

I also own a 2014 3600. Once I fixed the stuff the factory messed up on its' been a reliable trailer. It's been all over the country with few issues.

Update: The roof and AC units had to be replaced due to hail storm that damaged it.

Critical items to check:

Suspension (leaf springs can flatten out, hangers can break)
Holding tanks for leaks and it level gauges work including fresh water
Fridge, make sure it works on both AC and propane
Hot water heater make sure it works on electric and propane
Batteries and charging system (converter)
Generator
Thermostats for HVAC—make sure all HVAC units run at the same time.
Slide outs including motors. Operate all slides on battery power only at least a couple of times each and listen for pops and creaks. Also make sure all motors are secure to,the walls.
Ramp door and patio railing system if equipped.

I think these are the major items. If the above all work then I think other problems will be minor and easily fixable.

Going back to what Atc guy said
The first thing I replaced on my voltage
We’re the a/c units I went to low profile
Did that on week one, then tires, then
Greased all the bearings all within a couple
Months I like Lucas grease,no haters
Then the small stuff, Just because things
We’re replaced and updated isn’t always
A bad thing. They are going to get
A pro to look it over that’s great.
Most of us has had some issues but
We try to deal with it and move forward
And yes factory quality control sucks

Check to see if it has Schwintech slides or not? If yes, check them out very carefully. We had a 2012 Voltage 3905 with Schwintech and they went bad as a lot do, it was such a disaster I fought with the factory until they bought it back and part of that was a huge discount on a 2017 4150 instead that has cable slides instead of Schwintech.

As an RV owner I should never know the name Schwintech but I do.

If they are working fine and evenly you may be ok, but if one side is faster than the other or they fail to open part way or close part way without reversing direction then I suspect you will have slide repairs in your near future.

We still have our 2017 4150 and use it a lot and don't regret the change.

Good luck in your quest to find a rig!

Step every inch of the roof, feel for soft spots/wrinkled fabric. Go underneath notice the fasteners for the belly pan is it sagging. Look for streaking at the windows inside, water coming in .

RV Inspectors

I trust the RV inspectors association. Full inspection with 100 page written report around $1000.

Well worth it!

Check out NRVIA.ORG. they are a national rv inspection service. More than worth the money. Better safe than sorry. They will find things a RV tech might miss. Good luck!

Guys, no offense….I know many of you are sorta new on this forum… but do you ever check the date on a post before you reply?

Unless her plans changed, she’s already went & checked the rig out LAST WEEKEND, and she took a mobile RV tech with her. So the last 4 replies here before mine here are too late to be of any help.

It’s called “timely information”.

Within the past month, I’ve seen people replying… giving advise… about problems reported in other posts 2 years ago. I mean, it might have been useful had it been posted back then, but I’m pretty damn sure whatever issue they had has been addressed by now.

Ok… off of my soapbox.

I guess that date gets overlooked because the post is sent out as a new email! Thanks for pointing that out. Something to be aware of.
