2013 Voltage 3600 Backup Camera

Can anyone tell me where the backup camera on my 3600 gets its power from? I am having to replace the original camera and the power cord shows power at all times. Can anyone help me?

Thanks!!

When I replaced my camera, I too could not find the source of power. Pulling all 12 volt fuses and turning off all 120 VAC beakers did not kill power to the camera. If you scrape up the Dicor from where the wire goes into the roof, you'll find a metal plate with 3-4 screws holding it in place. Remove this plate and you'll find a connector for the camera.

Mine is powered from the trailer lights on the trailer which the power comes from the truck, not the trailer. The only way mine works is if I have the truck lights on. Hope this helps. My trailer is a Denali TT, but I think that most of the back up cameras are wired the same.

Are these cameras connected to the tow vehicle via wiring or wireless?

I disagree that the camera gets its power from the tow vehicle. I get a camera image on the monitor when I am not hooked up. I once drove a couple hundred feet away from my trailer and still received an image in the truck.

Occupant5143 - they are wireless. Here is the link to the manufacturer of mine - Digital Wireless Observation System featuring WiSight Technology I did call them when I had issues and they were helpful troubleshooting steps, even though I could not fix mine and it on the list of warranty items while at the dealer.

azdryheat - I agree with you. During our first visit (pre-PDI) to our new rig, I put the camera in my beetle and it worked great - no lights were on as the rig was only plugged into shore power. But I cannot begin to guess where power was coming from. I was always under the impression that it was powered by the upper marker lights on the rear of the rig until then.

Carlos: more than likely the power is the 12 volt circuit labeled Garage in fuse panel (Circuit K)

Might be a difference between the TT and the fifth wheel, we know there are differences between production runs within the same week, maybe same day.

I was just saying how mine was getting power, thought it might help, didn't mean to cause any confusion. The only thing the Voltage and Denali have in common is the parent company Dutchmen.

Someone asked how the signal was transmitted. MINE is wireless...

No confusion on my part, I have a 3800 fiver with the camera that gets its power from the batteries in the rig, not from the truck. There apparently is a difference between a TT and the fiver which is not uncommon.
I suppose one could wire power to the camera from the battery in the TT to monitor the backend. Probably have to use a switch or a blocking diode to do so but it could be done.
