Voltage 4150 back ramp

For some reason our back ramp will not unlock? Any ideas?

Is it one of those new fancy ramps with the electric locks?

Some of the members have the electric locks and have found a pocket of sorts in the front compartment that has two 9 volt batteries in it. I don't remember if these are back up batteries or power supply batteries for the latching mechanism.

I'm sure though they have something to do with the ramp locks.

http://www.dutchmenowners.org/forums...ocks-5707.html. Look through this thread..........

There are three systems on this ramp system. It draws power from the main battery bank for the coach as primary, there is a backup system via 9 volt batteries as mentioned by another on this thread, and third is a manual release. If you look in the upper corners of the ramp there is a rubber plug you can remove and then manually release each side.

I had this system fail and needed the locks and actuators (upper corners) replaced under warranty. If you can't get power options to work you will for sure want to have a dealer check it out.

The manual release saved me as we went on several trips between when my system broke and when the dealer would take the trailer to fix it. I had to use the manual release during that period.

I hope this info helps? there are threads for this under the Toy Hauler section.

Those 9 volt batteries are designed to provide power to the door when. In transit from the manufacturer to the dealer. According to my dealer they ship without batteries so this way the transporter can open the ramp door if necessary while in transit.

That's a good one, kudos to the dealer that came up with this idea.

One would have to ask why the manufacturer wouldn't ship with a coach battery. It's another money making deal for them that I bet they wouldn't want the dealer to have.

Then another question would be as to why the transporter would have to drop the ramp. The transporter has a gob of keys and one will fit the garage man door.

You still need the key to open but the release mechanism needs power and that is what the coach battery or the 9 volts provide. This battery does not bypass the key.

They ship trailers without batteries because they don't know how long they are going to sit around on the dealers' lots? Then the dealer can make a killing putting a cheap dual purpose battery on there and charge 3 prices for it.
