Replacement rear stabilizer motor
I have rear stabilizers like this. The motor seems to have died. They want over $300 for a new one and I don't want to pay that much. So two questions:
1) does anyone have a reasonably price source for replacement motors
2) with motor removed, is it possible to manually crank the jacks.

According to the manual you can use the manual override on the opposite side from the motor. Not sure about replacement motors.

On a friends keystone Montana he has the same system, he had power to the motor so I had him take it off and I disassembled it and found that one of the springs on the brushes had corroded and was not pushing the brush against the armature making contact, took a similar spring that i found in my parts bin and all is good now, that was 5 years ago and still going strong, what happens is the tires throw up water toward the motor which is not sealed very well, water got into the motor and corroded the bottom spring, after reassembly i sealed it up better than new

Yeah - the tires were throwing SALT WATER at my motor on this trip. Corrosion a definite possibility.

BTW, when I pulled the stabilizer switch off the connector, one of the pins was turquoise with corrosion and broke off as soon as I touched it. (Wasn't cause of the problem though).

I had the ground break off (screw too tight) and it cured the issue of the motor not working. I would check to see that all power is good before I ran to get another motor. Lots of luck!

I got the motor off today. It didn't work when I put 12V directly on it so as a repair video suggested, I gave it a few taps with a rubber hammer. It started working. Don't know if I can trust it so I'll pull it apart and see if there's anything I can clean up inside.

I ran mine for close to two years, having to rap the motor to get it to go up or down. I think my dealer charged me a lot more than $300 just for the part. Since you've got the motor out, I'd look for an electric motor service shop that rebuilds starters and alternators. They should be able to rebuild it if you are not comfortable doing it.

Mine was just dirty inside,, if your not sure of yourself take it to a place that works on vehicle electric stuff, starters etc. The old days you took it apart cleaned up armature, installed new brushes and you were good. Now we are a remove and replace society

Yep, that looks like a write off unless you could fit a new brush spring to it. The rusted parts could be glass beaded and the armature could be lightly sanded and it would fly once again.
I'm glad to see you took it apart, I was interested to see its guts.

The rear end bell has a bronze bushing so it should be usable. Might even have a bushing on the front end too since the duty cycle of the motor is short and the speed is relatively slow.
I'd give it a good chance of working again providing a brush spring can be sourced. Definitely worth playing with before dropping a hundred bucks for a new one.

It was actually running yesterday when I tested the new switch I put in because the original fell apart. Then it stopped. When I took it apart, one brush was clearly not in contact with the commutator - spring basically gone. So even though it's really ugly looking, I suspect with new brushes it'll work fine. Spinning the armature easily turns the gearbox both ways and the bushing at the other end of the armature looks fine. I'll let you know but it's not a priority right now. SOmething called ... It's been a few years since I bought a new brush ( ok, maybe 20 years). But NAPA used to have bunches of 12v motor brushes.
