Pocket Door

Has anyone modify their trailer to switch to a pocket door setup from a standard door? We have the 3750 FL and both doors from the bedroom and the kitchen close into the bathroom and it gets to be a pain. I was just wondering if anyone has changed to a single or dual pocket door (like on Star Trek) for ease of movement or how hard it would be to do it.

Thanks!

We like the one pocket door that we have in our 242RESL - except that we have to remember to lock it into place before we move the trailer. I think it would be a lot of work to put one in after the fact and I would only go in after inspecting with a wall camera. Would an accordion door be easier to install?

Our current Infinity 3640RL has a real pocket door (that disappears into the wall) between the bedroom and the bathroom. It would be very difficult to replicate this. However, our previous Jayco Designer had a sliding door in the same place. But it did not go into the wall, it simply rode on a track adjacent to the wall. This type of arrangement was just as effective and would be much easier to retrofit. ...... just food for thought.

Our 3850 RL has a pocket door separating the bedroom from the bathroom, also.

Our KZ 5er had the same exterior slider setup as you. Good thought kevin.

Ya, I'm with you, I think trying to create a pocket within a wall is going to be harder than it's actually worth. The wall itself may not be thick enough to accept a sliding door.

One thing we could do with our 3750FL's is to put mirrors on all of the doors. Hang a sign on the outside of the trailer that says "FUN HOUSE, HOUSE OF MIRRORS"! Open those puppies up and some one could get lost in there.

It could also be a house of horrors, most likely when I step out of the shower.

keep me posted on the pocket door concept please.

I think I'm going to try and go with a bi-fold door. After talking to the door department at Lowes, they can get me a custom made door the width of the jamb 26 1/4 x 76 for about a hundred. We would just stain it to match the cabinetry and if I works good then buy another one for the other door any maybe the closet too.

That does not sound bad at all. Please, send pictures when you are done and once again keep me posted on your project. What other mods have you made?

Great idea going with a bi fold....pocket door during construction makes more sense.

Just wondering how you are doing with the bifold door between the bathroom and bedroom. I have the same set up as you.
