I am picking up a 2017 Voltage 3305 and have a question about the levelers. If I stay at a campground for a couple of months should I use jack stands to take the stress off the Hydraulics?
I have the same rig and called the manufacturer to ask that question because all the “experts” had really strong and differing opinions. Long story, short they say you can leave them extended.
One of my friends told me that leaving them down would expose the pistons to moisture and that would be bad. The manufacturer told me not to worry unless I was at the beach. They did suggest that if they are down for a long time to wipe them down before retracting them but said it wasn’t critical. I store mine with them down because I prefer to keep the dead load off the suspension.
I would occasionally check the hydraulic connections on the jacks and make sure they are not leaking or weeping.
I certainly don’t think jack stands would hurt but might be hard to find a solid place on the trailer frame to support that weight. And also somewhat of a pain to adjust and position to the infinite level you get with the hydraulics.
Similar to motorcycle forks. I always clean them with wd 40. Thanks for the info.Do the slider rails need cleaning and lube. I have the cable style. I was told to treat the rubber seals.
According to Lippert, do not use WD-40 or similar products on the leveling jacks. The product can eat away at the rubber seals. Use only silicon spray on them when lubricating. I always use silicon every 6 months and the seals have never leaked.
My Voltage 3895 has been on the leveling jacks for 6 years more or less. Never used jack stands and have no problems. The frame on the Voltage's is a 12 inch high I-Beam. More than stout enough for your rig.
