winterizing

I winterized my kodiak 263rsl, I unplugged the low point drains and then when the atifreeze started coming out I put the plugs back in. Is the going to cause any problems? I live in upstate NY where it gets very cold.
Thanks for any help

Can we assume you used RV/Marine antifreeze? It's not poisonous, like automobile antifreeze is. How did you get the anti freeze into the system? Typically one uses the "winterize" valve (if you have one), and runs the pump to circulate antifreeze. Go to each faucet, the shower, run the toilet until you see pink anti freeze. Don't forget the washer/dryer hookup, even if you don't use it, as there will be water in there, also outside shower or hose if you have one. If you have a washer, follow manufacturers instructions to drain and winterize, you typically do not use antifreeze in them.

You also need to first put the hot water heater in by pass mode, or you're going to need a lot of antifreeze. Also need to open hot water heater drain & pressure release valve to drain.

Many of us start by opening low point drains & all faucets & let gravity do its job. Then close all valves, and use air pressure from a compressor to blow out at each point, finally, pump anti freeze through. I also pour som anti freeze in each drain.

Thanks for responding, I did all of the winterizing. For some reason this year I put the rv antifreeze through everything the way you are suppose to but when I went out and opened the low point drains, as soon as I saw the pink start coming out I closed them again. That why I am wondering if those lineas will be ok.

If you're worried, just put the Pink bottle back on the pump siphon, and turn it on, and run some more through the faucets. When the pump shuts right off after closing a valve, that means there is no air in the line, and it is full of (pink) fluid. You're asking if draining a little out the bottom might cause an air pocket in the lines, right?

You don't need to fill the lines with antifreeze, it's not a cooling system, as in a car radiator. The goal is to ideally displace the water, or at least dilute it to keep it from freezing. It sounds like you are in good shape.

We're here for you when that time comes. Remember that one inch Tucson had several years ago?

In the 46+ years I'ved lived out here in the desert I've seen it snow twice. Has gotten as low as 18 twenty + years ago. Most winters we may have a few nights below freezing but nothing to worry about.
That's one of the main reasons all the snowbirds are arriving back here at this time of year.

Just read a funny quote about how you can tell the seasons are changing: the license plates start changing colors in Florida!.
