What do you tow with

We bought a Coleman 262BH. The dry weight is a smidge over 5700 pounds. I'm figuring that my ready to go weight is about 6500. We're towing with a 9th gen Suburban 4x4, 5.3 V8. It tows OK. Not going to win any races. Took me a while to get use to the fact that the RPMs have to stay up (way up) pulling hills. I came out of a motorhome with a 454, T400 that pulled pretty effortlessly.

What's your tow vehicle and what's your thoughts about it?

I drive a 2004 Ford F150 V8 with tow package, I have no problem towing our TT, horse trailer or anything else. I do take it out of overdrive on hills.

We are pulling a dutchman 265BHS which is 6500# dry. We tried for a year using a ford expendion, which was rated at 10000#. But just did not work too well. So we upgraded 3 years ago to a Ram 3500 1Ton. Now we have zero issues.

Pulling 11,000# with 2017 F250. Made a 14,500 journey from South Florida to Alaska this summer with zero problems. It tackled all those huge mountains like a champ.

I too, started with a '08 Suburban 4x4 with the 5.3 V8, pulling a 7000LB trailer. It only had 8000LB towing capacity, so yeah, it was struggling. As much as I hated to part with my Suburban, it was time for something else. That something else is now an '09 Silverado 2500HD with 10,000LB towing capacity...does a much better job pulling my camper.

Pulling a Kodiak 285 BHSL (5800 pounds dry weight) with a 2016 Ram 2500 6.4 Hemi. Made the maiden voyage tonight with the new TT and the Ram pulled it great. Fairly flat towing for about 40 miles, and I averaged around 11 MPG according the my mileage calculator.

I have a 2016 Nissan Titan XD Platinum with the 5.0 Cummins! Towing a 2016 Denali 287RE. Except for the anemic fuel tank (which I am going to replace someday), it's a great machine.

I have a 1999 Ford F250 Super Duty Supercab 2WD LB with 7.3 diesel and automatic transmission 373 diff. 197,000 miles. I have had it since it had 21,000 miles. The truck is stock except for a cold air intake, DP Tuner with Pillar gauges, 6.0 31 row transmission cooler, rear air bags and a upgraded hitch rated at 17,000lbs.

I am currently towing a 2017 Coleman 300tq Toy Hauler, loaded the trailer is 9400lbs.

I have towed 5 other Toy Haulers with this truck with the heaviest being 12,400 lbs.

The Tuner I use has specific towing tunes a 30HP and 60HP and a Decel that acts like a Mini Jake brake plus a 60HP econo tune that you can use when not towing and stock mode. You can change tunes on the fly with a push of a button. The shifting pattern changes when in tow tunes more like the newer towhaul transmissions.

I get along pretty good till I reach a long 5% 6% grade then I may end up shifting into second gear to pull the grade at 40MPH.

I don't see the point of buying a new truck this one seems to work fine.

Got 3 RV's to choose from, depending on mission.
But none of them require a Heavy Duty, so my old trusty Cummins just pouts.

For crisscrossing this country coast to coast or border to border I pamper myself with quiet and smooth.

We tow with a 2011 F-150 5.0 , TT is 2018 Coleman 263BH. No problems.

Our 25 ft Dutchmen has a dry weight of 5004 lbs. across the CAT scales when loaded for the road it weighs 6200 lbs. with 750 lbs. of that on the tongue.

I pull it with a 2011, F-150 4x4 with the 3.5L E-boost with no difficulties. I have towed in the Rockies twice and all over the AZ desert.

However, my F-150 has a max cargo of 1411 lbs. so with 750 lbs on the tongue, two adults, a large dog, tools and extra camp gear in the bed; I am at my max cargo limit with plenty of towing capacity to spare.

Most folks are not even close when they estimate their load, the CAT scales play no favorites.

We use a 2017 Ram 5500 to pull our Voltage. Weight is approx 16,900 before loading and then it pushes 20k. Truck has a 10k plus payload that gives me ample room after bed, tool box, hitch and 5th hitch are stacked on bed. Truck is a HD Cab & Chassis so they come detuned from the factory around 100 ft lbs less than a 3500 dually. I am ok with that knowing we are not trying to win any stoplight to stoplight sprints. Given the weight of the 5fer I wanted to have a heavy commercial truck to aid in stopping that kind of weight. The engine brake on these are a must when towing heavy loads.

Nice rig. Sadly I have to use my F-350 dually as a daily driver, so anything larger just wouldn't work for me.
